It's meaningless unless LSU gets a #2 ranking in one major poll.

there is another way....but it still boils down to ramah's quote...either the media or the coaches will have to vote LSU #2 in the polls...this can be accomplished by impressive wins at Bama and Ole Miss AND Arkansas...do NOT forget the piggies are due some payback, too....and the SECCG probably vs either Tennessee or Florida. Four impressive...and I mean IMPRESSIVE wins coupled with a poor performance by USC...not necessarily a loss, but something that will make the people who vote on the polls vote LSU #2 instead of USC.

I think we CAN! Margin of victory may not count in the BCS, but it does still count to the pollsters. Why do you think we leap-frogged Ohio State? Because we've opened a major can of whoop-a** since we lost to Florida.

We're capable of blowing out the competition, and we need to do so.

Did anyone see that Arizona's RB, Bell, rushed for 222 yards and 3 TD's against Washington? USC BETTER beat Arizona at least as badly as we did (before their season was even in the basement of college football). We already know that our other common opponent took a bigger beating from US!

The important thing is we have to win out. The Bama game will be coming off a bye week (we've all seen what happened after the last bye) Ole' Miss will be trying to win their first SEC west championship by the time we show up in Oxford so these next two games are going to be the test. If LSU comes out and dominates both games and then trounces an Arkansas team that should be ranked by that time then I think we will leapfrog USC. Just my opinion. The truth is in the first half of the Alabama game.

Actually, Ohio State is the team to be concerned about.

If they beat both Purdue and Michigan, they could jump both LSU and USC.

If either Purdue or Michigan beats Ohio State, LSU will have a good shot at number 2.

In case you guys haven't visited this site before, CFN has been pimping us hard for the past couple of weeks and THEY apparently think a 12-1 LSU slides to #2 in one or both polls.

Many of your comments are spot on, but as I mentioned in a thread I posted last night, we need to start contacting the people who matter with these factoids--AP voters, SIDs at various schools, etc.

Initial targets, at least for me, include:

--Jack Bicknell's SID up in Ruston. Put yer money where your mouth is, Bulldogs, and give us your #1 vote. The fact that we get a #1 vote draws attention to us each week the poll is released, and the more attention we draw, the better.

--Your local AP voter. Here in Houston, it's Jerome Solomon ( Send Comments to Jerome HERE ). I, for one, will start this week by sending a quick message pounding USC and pumping us up (he voted USC #2, by the way, in this week's poll).

    Other statements of note include:

IF WE WIN BY MORE THAN TWO SCORES (10 or more) THIS WEEKEND: We beat Bama by more points than did Oklahoma, plus we take some air out of the whole "Who did LSU beat on the road?" argument.

IF WE WIN AT OLE MISS (hopefully the ESPN Gameday game): Yet another LSU win over a team ranked in the top 15 at the time of the game, plus this destroys the "Who did LSU beat on the road?" argument once and for all.

IF WE WIN AT HOME VERSUS ARKANSAS: Lookee here---we beat an 8-3 Arkansas team that should be somewhere between 22-25 in the polls come gameday, a team that beat the scaldingly hot Texas Longhorns in Austin (add that to the "We beat Alabama on the road by more points than Oklahoma did" selling point when emailing voters).

A win over whomever is in the SECCG---who will be in the top 10, even if it's Florida---speaks for itself. Plus, it's on national TV all by itself on a weekend when USC is off.

Oh, one more thing: root like hell for Nebraska or Kansas State in that Big XII title game; if Oklahoma somehow slips up there, such a late-season loss is sure to drop them a few spots in the polls and out of the BCS top two spots.

This thing is, in other words, far from settled...as long as it's USC we're dealing with here.

If it's Ohio State, we're sunk.

And, don't forget that our final 3 games will be on national TV, as well as the SECCG. IMO, this is a huge advantage over USC.

4 dominating wins could sway voters....
