LSU had the ball on the 1 yd line, not the 5.... good coaching puts players in a position to succeed..... dumbass play calling results in not getting 1 yard on 4 consecutive tries (3 straight runs off tackle?).... of course, you conveniently forget that LSU was gifted 24 points in that game, you conveniently forget that LSU couldn't score in the 4th quarter, conveniently forget that mizzou was shorthanded going into that game, with 3 of 4 DTs out.... riddle me this; how is it that brady fielded multiple offers from the nfl, and slinger has received exactly 0? I mean, with the greatest college football season ever recorded wouldn't you think the brains behind the greatest offense ever seen get a call? just 1? sorry, kaka.... steve had the title of oc last year but he was dozing in the passenger seat while brady was driving ....
I love a good running game, but it can be more sophisticated that what we saw under Miles. There were glimmers of sophistication against FU, but not enough for me.
Yes Bear Bryant. I trust the coaches I know and talk to on offensive gameplan, strategies and why you can or cannot execute certain plays with the talent you are given. As I said passes to the backs coming out to the flats doesn't work near as well now cause we don't a CEH. We couldn't stretch the field with our TE against Fla cause we didn't have Gilbert. Lastly YOU CAN'T RUN YOUR WHOLE CATALOG OF PLAYS WITH TWO TRUE FRESHMAN AT QB. That's not me talking but coach speak.
Once our QB's have a spring and fall under their belts and we get healthy at many positions and a good recruiting class you will see our full catalog of plays we can execute because we are able to execute those plays. You are expecting too much from a team that lost a record 20 to the NFL, lost their starting QB, lost the two most promising offensive lineman, lost 4 of our better starters to opt outs. Hell just having to play 18 year old freshman is overwhelming. This team had the unenviable task of following the best team in LSU history and being judged against that. Relax buddy O will get this team back
You want a 'Fancy Boy ' running game? "Sophisticated" running game sounds almost exactly like Lou Tepper talking about those "Exotic Offenses". Sophistication, meaning no toughness & RB catching passes. In the 60s & 70s it was called a halfback pass. Doesn't matter if they went across the middle or just a dump off pass. LSU 2020 Running Game , Glimmers of Sophistucation' edition: https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/23/p3 We have 7 Rushing TDs. But maybe a very few are sopisticated TDs? Miles averaged between 25-30 Rushing TDs per season. Sure we can pad the stats against Lady Kiffin, unless we are 21 points behind. But 1,059 yards & 7 TDs, 3.29 yards per carry is terrible. Against Florida? We glimmered our way to 3.6 YPC. Florida had 5.2 YPC. Rushing is what I & others miss about LSU Football. No smash mouth, fight for those extra yard, Hester fighting his way into the endzone for a TD against Florida on 4th down. That kind of toughness, true grit & determination is missing on O teams. In 2011, the 2 best teams in America were Run first teams & there wasn't shinola anyone with a 'Passing fancy' could do about it. Destroyed each other in 2 different games, but nobody else was even close. O thinks LSU should become USC, but not the Marcus Allen or Reggie Bush USC, more the Matt Barkley & Cody Kessler USC. He did the same at Ole Miss as well. https://www.redcuprebellion.com/2018/9/28/17910314/ed-orgeron-ole-miss-lsu-tell-em-bout-it-joe-joe
Nice post glad to see you haven't fallen for this "modern football" BS being pushed here. My compliments
If we don’t have the hosses, ya gotta adjust, not bang your head against a wall. I love a good power run game, but you really need balance for that to work optimally. E is trying to run a power run game without the OL or passing balance.
