I have my bro-in-law bring them in from Louisiana. He has a very large cooler that he can hold up to about 300lbs in. If you need to get them in Dallas, there are several options but most are expensive. World Market has them, but they are about $3/lb. If you talk to a cajun style restaurant like Razoos, they can usually order them for you. The same goes for some of the grocery stores around here as well. I would place some calls and see who can hook you up. I think there are some online companies that will ship sacks of crawfish to your door. Just know if you get them in Dallas you will pay alot of money.
So I had my boil. I did 5-40lb sacks. Our usual supplier in Shreveport ran out due to the Holiday weekend, but we found a backup at $1.40/lb. The quality of the crawfish was really good for so late in the year. It was my best boil yet: soooo tasty. Did Natchitoches Meat Pies, Jambalaya, and a frozen Hurricane machine. Turns out the guy who lives across the street is an LSU grad. He just followed his nose and introduced himself. Nice seeing some hometown folks.
My son had a crawfish boil this past weekend. He paid .59 a pound around McComb. I couldn't make it, but he said they were good sized.
