Only adults play in the sec. The kids eat in the kitchen on the floor and only the grown ups eat at the table.
Written by an East Carolina paper. Nobody disputed the fact that East Carolina would love being in the SEC. But why would the SEC want them? I understand adding TV markets, but is that all there is to it? Perhaps we should throw Temple' s hat into the ring.
This would be one more way the SEC could stick it to LSU. Give FL and the east teams a pansy, while we have to play FL and aTm every year. Let's not forget aTm is a top ten team that is going to look at LSU as their rival (much like the pigs do).
If Mizzou falls through I'm pulling hard for TCU. Because the alternative of WVU . . .is not a good alternative.
Maybe in 10-15 years. The SEC isn't a exactly a stepping stone for up and coming programs. Maybe the Big East/ACC. They wouldn't be anything more than the bottom 3 in the SEC every year anyways.
Im not trying to put down ECU, and I have no doubt joining the SEC would be great for their athletics, especially their football. Over time, they would build a competitive program. But again I ask, is that what conference expansion is all about? Silly me, I thought the "super conference" label meant building super competitive conferences, when it more likely means, building super network-ratings-money driving-larger market conferences.
I look at it like this - West Virginia is a better fit for the SEC then ECU and their application was denied. If the conference will not allow WV in, then ECU doesn't stand a chance.
