A lot of Dolphin fans are already ripping Nick for passing up on Adrian McPherson and Elton Brown to draft TD. They are going to feel dumb pretty soon.
If that were true, he would not have accomplished anything here. You dont coach because you want to move on to the next level. Yes, that is a goal, but if it is your only goal you will never win. Saban is a teacher. A teacher gets satisfaction from watching his students suceed. So yes, he did alot for LSU. He made boys into men and brought our program back into the national spotlight.
What do fans know anyway? I remember last year around this time several Bucs fans were upset that Clayton was taken in the 1st round. They all claimed that it was a wasted pick and that he would be a bust. When asked why they thought that, they all pointed to 40 times and his workout numbers. A year later, he is their favorite player. If TD keeps the attitude that he had at LSU and continues to play like he does, he will do great in Miami. And even though I absolutely hate the dolphins, I hope he does really well.
As most of you know, I'm a lifelong Fins fan, and absolutely love this pick. I think they got solid value, and he should make an immediate impact. I imagine they'll work him in for nickel packages and special teams. As his technique improves, he should have a fine career as a #2 CB.
I have to agree with you. I find it kind of ironic that there is so much negativity in this thread towards Saban. Saban did absolutely nothing that detracted from the respectability of the LSU program. It is always tough to move on to another program or position so there is never going to be a best case scenario involved. Meanwhile, not even mentioning his accomplishments while at LSU, he left the program in much better shape than when he arrived.
being Im a bucs lover, last year I joked how i had spoken with gruden a month before the draft where he told me he was in love with Michael Clayton. I didnt realize this would come true but boy, I am glad it did. Then it was reported 2 weeks ago Gruden fell in love with Caddi for the exact reasons he did with MC. A passion to play and a respect for the game. He gets guys with talent yet with bigger hearts and desire to bust ass and others asses. I think caddi will be a more special talent while Ronnie Brown will be a more solid runner. caddi will be a gamebreaker. rb will knock your d in the dirt. Also, TD with Saban is a match made in ex-tiger heaven.
Ronnie Brown is Duece MacAllister. Caddi is more of a LaDamien Tomlinson. Either way, you win. TB may come out ahead because brusiers tend to not last as long as dancers. However, Caddi will need a better line in front of him. He will need holes, Brown will make them. Thing that i think about everytime i see RB's name.. Alley Broussard... RB - 6'1/2", 233, 4.44 AB - 6'1/2", 234, 4.50.... and he has 2 years left to get better...
agree but brown has very few miles on him. benson and caddi have lots of wear and tear already in comparison.
I wasn't at all surprised at the TD pick. He's a Saban-type player all the way, as were the others drafted. Yes, he was familiar with all of the guys, but they are guys who will fit into his system. Say what you will about Saban and his departure, but do any of us doubt his ability to evaluate football talent?
