Well it was just the news guy saying this they didn't show Broyles making the statement. But he did make a statement about it. Also, everyone up here seems to like Nutt. I can only imagine what the talk will be about this topic. Personally I think he is a strange guy. I'm not too sure about his abilities. The hogs have had a lot of discipline problems from what I've seen and they are about the luckiest team I have seen play. I guess we'll see what happens.
check out the arky board link. they are saying Nebraska is flying in a jet tonight to get Nutt and offer him the job. http://www.woopig.net/php/index.php?board=5;action=display;threadid=1903
Nutt and Nebraska? Doesn't seem like a good fit to me, but whatever. Sounds like the Nebbish AD is getting desperate.
Question is, does anyone view the Nebraska job as a top tier one anymore? I think we may have seen the last of the Huskers as a consistent player on the National scene. There have been many stories recently highlighting the fact that Neb.'s success had always been due to the large number of players with athletic ability, but not "skill" type players. As the college ranks become more and more a minor league for the NFL, the truly talented players are going to look for a program and coach who can help them make the jump to the pros. Being another "anonymous" Cornhusker is not going to be an attractive option. To be sure, their tradition and history wll attract a number of regional players, and the team will still make bowl appearances, but I think they will be hard pressed to compete for even the Big 12 title. This is especially true as long as Stoops and Snyder remain in place, and if Texas can get rid of Brown and hire someone who can coach talent. If Nebraska does hire Nutt, this process of decline will simply be accelerated.
Rumors now circulating on Hog and Husker boards that Nutt was offered the job AND TURNED IT DOWN. If true, this confirms 2 theories of mine. The first is posted above, and the second is that Nutt is an idiot.
