no more Corey Raymond please… his dbs at lsu got consistently worse as did his coaching… his dbs at fla played like doo doo as well…. thanks for the memories Corey but no more dbs to eff up for you… now…. give him an asst gm role and an admin position where he can be the closer on the recruiting trail and work his coaching network for recruits and I’m all in…
You will probably get your wish but I respectfully disagree. It will most probably be up to whomever gets the DC job because I can't see Kelly saying "hey, I want you to be my DC but we are going to hire the guy I fired 2 yrs ago to coach the dbs" But maybe that guy says "Hey, Raymond is on the market and I want him"
I get it…. maybe he got poisoned by o, or had some personal issues, or something but there’s no denying he went out with a whimper… remember aranda bringing in an another db coach to coach the safeties (bill ? can’t remember his name but I think he’s now at Nebraska?) an energized raymond would be an asset to LSU, I just have doubts about the product he’s put on the field the last few years…
The irony would be Baker was also fired (as LB coach I think) in same house cleaning when BK arrived. So maybe BB does ask for that if his relationship with CR was good. Again, assuming offer/acceptance by BB.
You know, if he swings and misses on B. Baker maybe he should take a look at someone else he purged in Jan. 2022. Yea, I’m talking about Daronte Jones.
I can understand that sort of but I would offer this... 1. Overall he has pulled in some major talent for our defensive backfield. If there was a hoss out there Corey usually ended up with him 2. I haven't looked this up but over the last few years I can't recall a lock down corner coming out of La, that either we got or that went elsewhere. What I'm saying is maybe his recruiting dropped because the talent wasn't there? 3. Would you want to play for the gaytors? I mean come on, what do you want him to do next, walk on water? I say the body of work over the years takes precedent over a couple of down years. Bring that baw home!
I often wondered about why BK dint keep Daronte and most of D staff. They seemed to start getting good last half season. Guessing its just a comfort/past relationship thing. Wouldve saved TAF some buyout coin also, not that Woody GaF.
