I know most of us schedule weddings around football season. I'll be in B.R. on Saturday for a wedding and it looks like a side trip to Tiger Stadium is in the cards. Knowing the bride and groom are big LSU fans, I wonder if they think this is good luck or bad luck. They probably saw that LSU basketball was playing on the road and figured it was the perfect time for a wedding. Hope the weather holds up.
Right on, Col. You are a good SEC representative... I was born in Centreville (the only member of my family born outside of LA) so I should by all rights be at least partially enured of your boys... But you are dead on right about ALL local Tigahs making the trip... I live out here on the left coast but still made 3 games (AZ, AU, & LT) this year... these Pac-10 fans make me wanna BARF (except Cal fans, who are at least somewhat rabid) because they cannot begin to match the intensity of SEC sports, which I miss greatly... Enjoy yourself at the bash - I would if I was there!!!! GO TIGERS - GO SEC!!!!
Centreville say man-----------You didn't say when you were born. Centreville is known as the tigers. Their colours are purple and gold. Last year they (LSU) signed a lineman that weighed in around 325.
Try 1956...late December... That's great that they are the Tigers too... You brought up the famous 1970 matchup that you were at - Do you remember the pre-game controversy surrounding Archie's cast? And how the refs would rule on it? Would they let him play? What I remember the most was that my dad had bought a 9" B&W TV with a portable battery just before the game - what a rarity in those days! We left the game from our season ticket seats in South U11 early in the 4th qtr (my dad was a little under the weather) and heard the crowd roar. While walking along the East side of the stadium, I stopped to watch what had happened on the TV and I was immediately was surrounded by a crowd! Punt return for TD!(3rd of the game) What a glorious night - after what Archie did to us the two previous meetings - we owed him... I will always respect Johnny Vaught as a great SEC coach. You have a good one in Cutcliffe, as well...
Also - the lineman you are speaking about is Will Arnold - he redshirted this year. I was pleased when I saw that they had signed him...
