While I may not be the biggest Saban fan now, this quotation (for one) I have a problem with. The media has hated on him for a long time, and since he left Miami, the "people's sports media" (ESPN) has said nothing but resentful things for him. Clearly it was his coaching, especially here at LSU that got him his money. Ofcourse if you delve into it even further, it was whomever wrote the stipulation into his contract to be the highest paid coach in CF that made him his money, so by no means the media. I understand the article should be taken with a grain of salt but come on, what happened to good sports writing?

A portion will. That portion won't be a "significant" segment of the fan base. You are going into another thread there...your newspaper fan vs your football fan.

FWIW, Mandel and SI had access...for his piece.

Am I still laughing at Moon? More amused than anything else...heck, don't you think common sense would tell, even the youngest of writers, getting better treatment than he has been getting might should start with him...I don't know, maybe attend at least one UA event?

"...no one knows who this guy is..."

    Just sayin'...

And, as a side note, the reporters who are getting the access and dropping the tide-bits are the ones who are actually working. You don't find the stupid press conf. questions with all the guys in some of these post scrimmage/practice conferences...neither do you finding Saban with some curt answers to this group either.

It was about evaluations...maybe a week ago? It wasn't anything like the "Mora - "Playoffs,"

I won't get into comenting on the article but I am curious what your evidence is that he is an Auburn alum. I've never heard of him and he doesn't show up on a search of Auburn grads I did on an Auburn website.

I couldn't agree with you more. Its simply an instate hatchet job by an Auburn man in an Auburn town. Even before this piece this guy had zero credibility. Geez hes not even the beat writer for Bama. Just someone trying to create a name for himself writing garbage. This guy doesn't have a clue.Heck, Stewert Mandel with SI. spent two days in T-town last week waiting on an interview with Saban that never came. He quickly wrote that Sabans all the jerk that hes made out to be but he also didn't need to fabricate a bunch of garbage. Any man that takes a 7and15 team and wins a NC 2 or 3 years later has earned my respect. Personally i don't like Saban as a person, but he has my respect for his coaching abilities.

Saban is a quality coach but his legend greatly surpasses his accomplishments and he is indeed an arrogant jerk. I think he will do well at Bama because of his unequaled work ethic and ability to recruit, however he is not the bear reborn like so many gumps believe. He had success at only one coaching stop and is not a guy that has done wonders at different places. His timing and the situation at LSU was a perfect fit and the stars alligned. His very hard work payed off but that doesn't make him anywhere near as good as the media has made him out to be. IMO the book is still out on just how good of a coach he is or isn't and the next 4-5 years will tell us more than his 5 years at LSU did.
