You only become the best by playing the best.
The piggies defecting to the Big12 has been a good conversation topic around here for a long time.
It will never happen mostly because of the $$$ of being in the SEC.
I've always thought the UARK was perfect for the SEC especially now with a new stadium in Fayetteville. LSU/UARK is the perfect rivalry for me since I have ties in both states. Fayetteville has a far more southern flavor than any Big12 city.
Most of the older fans here though would rather play Texas schools every year from their old Southwest Conference ties.
    Hanging on to yesterday...
I heard the LSU will come to The Hill next year instead of that dump in LR, finally.
Tiger fans will be treated to a clean new stadium the get's plenty loud.
The tailgating sux here though and that's a tradition that we'll have to show the way for the porkers. They're family now like it or not. We married into it even if they are pigs lol.
I call the hogs the red headed stepchildren of the SEC.

its not like there has never been a team in different conferences in different sports.

lose Ark, Ole Miss, MSU and UK. lose the seccg too. the sec really screwed college football by creating that thing

No way Louisville leaves the Big East for the SEC. Even though it didn't happen for them this year, that conference is way easier for them to win and get into a BCS bowl then the SEC.

BTW, did anyone hear Brando refer to that conference as 'the Big Least' during halftime yesterday? Hilarious. I know it's a running joke with fans and certainly not original, but I've never heard a supposedly objective commentator call refer to that conference like that. Maybe the ESPN duds have and I just missed it.

On another note - WOOT! Got my 1000th post

A buddy of mine in Amarillo heard a strange rumor like this last spring, but it was pretty far out there.

He said that the big teams from the Big 12 south (Texas, Oklahoma, etc.) wanted to change the rule about who goes to their CCG to make it the top 2 schools in the conference as a whole instead of the top school from each division. Of course the schools from the north division would vote against this, but the schools from the south division would expect this and (stay with me) use it as an excuse to break off, pick up Arkansas and a few decent Mid-Majors (like UTEP, TCU, and NT) and reform as a new version of the old Big South conference.

Now i thought this was some insane, consipracy theroy BS. But as my friend pointed out, if this new Big South Conference was in existance in '03 they would have made about %25 more in revenue than the Big 12 did that same year.

It's an intriuging idea, but it's not likely to ever happen.

The Big East could lose their BCS standing in two years....there goes Louisville's easy pass in.

No way Arkansas leaves the SEC. Tulane and Ga Tech left the SEC and they regretted it quickly and forever more.

This rumor has been around for about 10 years now. I hope we never leave the SEC. I rather go 5-6 in the SEC every year than to go 11-0,9-2,8-3 in the boring Big-12. Northwest Arkansas might be in a better geographic location, but not the state as a whole. Arkansas is a southern state," remember the civil war" and doesn't want to be a in mid-west yankee confence. Yes, Texas was fun at the time, but we have moved on now. Alot of old timers are still clinging onto the Texas thing. Once they die out there will be no more talk of moving.

I would like to see Texas and Texas a.m move to the SEC west and Ole miss and Miss. st. move to the eastern side. Man what a season that would be.

To who ever said that LSU is playing on the hill next season is wrong. It's in Little Rock.

IMO, UCF would be a great addition to the SEC. This program is definately on the rise and I believe would recruit competatively with UFA and FSU if they were in a big name conference. Plus, central FLA would big a great destination for some big-time college football that they are lacking today.
