Here was your question . . . "how many more NC/SEC champ would we have in $aban came back or never left." There is no answer to this question. What did you expect? I ask again. Who really cares?
The SEC has 14 teams. I'll agree that the passing offense is lousy. But when your goal is to run the ball, even if you get a nice 5 yards per carry, what you're doing is chewing up clock, shortening the game and keeping your defense off the field and rested (while making your opponent's D tired). If you do that, and do it well, you aren't going to post gaudy numbers in total offense (which is yards per game).
Are you high? Russell was the freakin' first overall pick of the 2007 draft. He sucked in the NFL, but he was a great LSU QB.
He had issues reading defenses and going through progressions through most of his career at LSU too. Cannon for an arm, and big enough to shake linebackers off when under pressure. He had a couple of NFL receivers bailing him out too.
While it would've been nice to watch Russell succeed in the NFL, I don't really give a rat's ass that he didn't. However, at LSU, he was a good QB. Either you choose not to remember or you are sixteen and don't remember when Russell was the QB.
Oh, so WRs can make or break the success of a QB? Because in another thread, people are saying that our current WRs are not at least part of the problem with our pathetic passing game.
Its a little more than just a QB problem with the Raiders, since 2003, they have never finished a season above .500, like I said, too many problems overall with them. 11 years .500 or below?
Les Miles took a shit on the grass. But if you analyze its components it is 80% baby Ruth. noogat, peanuts, and caramel are all usually pretty much tit for tit. But the chocolate is regularly shitty. I admire it, don't want to kill the golden goose that laid it, but don't really want to eat it. But Maybe if he produces better fudge I will.
Sure you can add an incomplete year, omit a #1 year and reduce the SEC by two teams. Any way you figure it, it is between 7 and 9. Yes, the offense is mediocre. But it ain't at the bottom. That's all I'm saying. I'm not happy with it, neither am I distraught. There is a lot more happening besides the offense. Overall LSU football is in fine shape, there are about a hundred teams that would trade places with us. Teams have an off season from time to time. This is an off season and LSU's offense is mediocre, but we are still ranked. It ain't the end of the world.
