He needs to go to the bank, he makes $513 an hour because a coach is valued by how many wins he posts and how many trophies he brings home.
Uhhh, sure. Why don't we just wish for better defense and better kickers, too? They would all make us better, maybe even perfect every single year from now on. Look, I understand our passing game is a problem right now, we all do. Nobody likes it, including Miles and Jennings. But our rugged schedule and our youth are real and cannot be wished away. It ibs what it ibs. There is no cure but time. We don't play any more top-10 teams and the team has improved. The point that you are missing is that LSU is still ranked and is meeting reasonable expectations despite a poor passing offense and has good prospects for a better season in 2015. You can cry over what might have been if it makes you feel better. Not me, buddy.
Heh, I am not missing that Miles is and has done a good job with one hand tied behind his back. I've said as much multiple times. I'm not wishing for rainbows and unicorns, I'm wondering why the highest paid staff in college football, and Miles with plenty of time to figure it out, usually only field 75% of a team. Passing offense isn't an obscure part of a game plan that doesn't warrant significant attention, it is one of four pillars and is consistently bad under Miles. If unicorns were farting rainbows and Miles had a solid passing offense, we have multiple NCs under Miles and Saban is just a grumpy lil leprechaun. How Pollyanna of me.
Neatly omitting a national championship year when LSU finished #1 in offense. But sure, LSU has been better on defense than on offense. LSU's offense has ranked far down the list, I understand. I just have a tough time giving a damn, Brett. Do you care much about the actual scores? 6 winning seasons, 5 bowl game wins, 4 double-digit-win seasons, 1 SEC championship, 1 title game appearance. The last two years we had the only LSU quarterback to throw for 2,500 or more yards in back-to-back seasons. Two thousand-yard receivers last year. Haven't you been having fun? I agree that there are better offenses. Most of them haven't won as many games as LSU, though. Who can say how much time it takes to develop an offense? Too many variables for there to be a magic formula, some outside the coaches control, like the strength of the SEC West or juniors bailing for the NFL. LSU has not been perfect on offense or even exceptional. But it's hard to say that it has not been good enough to excel. There is a bigger picture here. You mentioned context earlier. I take the offensive shortcomings in the context of a winning, nationally respected program. We could be better on offense, damn right. But playing at this level and still having room to improve is not a bad thing at all.
Just wondering but how many more NC/SEC champ would we have in $aban came back or never left. I would venture to say more than Miles.
Can't speak on Okie light. Each coach has his strengths and weaknesses, Les' is no passing O most of the time. I Imagine he sees it and believes Cameron is the answer. I hope so. What could have been, what can be...
