Its okay with me if they call him Cadillac in Tiger Stadium. Its really almost become more than a nickname for him - its how he's referred to 99% of the time. Lots of people don't even realize his name is actually Carnell. So I think it might even come across as kind of petty if we insisted on calling him by his proper name on our field. It would look like we know he's actually a good back, but we're afraid to acknowledge it by calling him "Cadillac," which obviously implies that he's pretty good. So by insisting on calling him Carnell we would sort of come across like we were in denial. Its all academic anyway because 1) Cadillac/Carnell/whatever is going pro after this year; 2) next year's game isn't in Tiger Stadium anyway.
I tend to agree with your general point From an AU fan's perspective, i feel like his line is solid, but the offensive scheme, particularly the lack of a vertical passing game, hinders their effectiveness while run blocking. They cannot consistently open up holes in stacked defenses that know which way the play is going to go. I think offensive coaching and play calling have been Carnell's biggest opponents since he arrived at AU. It is obvious that AU tends to lean on him way too much. I was more than surprised (shocked) when AU kicked it up a notch with Ronnie Brown last year. I too, feel like he will be a franchise back for some lucky NFL team. I think he will be included in many NFL Films highlight videos. It would be cool to see Carnell teamed up with Michael Vick in Atlanta or maybe put him in a Dallas uniform. Have you guys ever had a player at LSU that for some reason the way their career unfolded that it felt as though you never got to see the complete package or the high light come to fruition before they were gone? That is the way I feel about Carnell and Karlos Dansby. It seems like they just got here and are about to be gone. :sob: Lastly, I think AU's PA announcer just uses the players last name during the game but he does say the players full name when he announces the starting lineups for both teams. I have never paid any attention to whether he says Carnell or Cadillac.
Re: I tend to agree with your general point Cecil "The Diesel" Collins" was jaw-droppingly good in the 2-3 games I saw him play in.
Yeh gotta agree. The Diesel.... Probably is the best one I can think of... Trev Faulk - Although he was awesome, had he stayed one more year he would have won some awards I think.
didn't Wade Richey play for LSU . . I had heard he was a kind of average at LSU but was a phenom in NFL . .or am I thinking of someone else?
Yep, that's a good one... his problems were apparently 99% mental, and I suppose he finally found a good shrink.
i kind of feel that way about Toefield. he was just always hurt... and i wish we could have had the DD thats now playing for the Texans. he was great at LSU, but he is looking amazing right now for houston.
The 49ers sent Richey to a psychologist and he became a decent if not great kicker for at least one year. I don't know if he is still playing for anybody but kickers tend to bounce from one team to another a lot. Now why didn't DiNardo think of sending him to a psychoogist?
That cadillac is a "pinto" now. They're done for the season. Hogtie 'em and stop their run and stop Au"barn". No QB's worth a damn in Alabama ... LOL ... except the one that got away : > ))
