Not it really isn't as far as I'm concerned, I may have to go back and watch every game from last year but Jarrett Lee was able to move the ball down the field. I am positive he was more effective than JJ was last year until the Alabama game and then he never saw the field again. Maybe I should qualify that, I think you are half right and half wrong, same for me. I get it about how predictable the offense is and how bad our O-Line is this year injuries and all. Our offense was about as bad from the Arkansas game on last year minus a few streaks mixed in! LOL
I just don't understand WHY the offense contines to be so vanilla. I mean, we don't have to be Oregon, but Gawddamn, draw up some plays that no one has seen. Mix in a screen play (which we did ONE time) and some misdirection to slow the rush down. That play that FU scored their first TD on was beautiful. Unbalanced line left with split backfield. Fake hand off to left with Guillessleeeeeee (or whatever his name is) cutting back to the right. Awesome. Just wish our O showed just a TAD bit of imagination. FU's QB is a first year starter, just like ours, but their offense showed more imagination in the 2nd half then we've showed in 4 years. Again, we don't have to be WV, but we can do ALOT more than we've done so far. Scrap the entire offensive staff and start over.
One more thing, I wish I could see an alternate universe where Steve Spurrier or some other offensive guru could take Russell Sheppard for 4 years and make a weapon out of him.
Same here. Only Les Miles would take a talent like Shepard and let him waste away for four years. I feel really bad for Russell. He would have had a key offensive role anywhere else. But, Les Miles recruits him and decides to turn him into a receiver and then spend several years doing it all with no results. Misguidance at its finest. Russell would have been far better off if he would have just transferred at the point when LSU informed him of his switch to receiver. It's as if Les Miles' goal with Russell Sheppard is to take a highly ranked offensive recruit and make him as unproductive as possible. He's succeeded and it's all at Russell's expense. For those who will take a jab at Russell's skill set, do you really think that the capabilities of an offensive player, such as Russell Shepard, can be accurately gauged playing for a Les Miles coached team?
It actually doesn't ring a bell. I'm casually familiar with Darron Thomas. Please explain. All that I recall of Thomas is that he was initially recruited to LSU and then switched to Oregon. Besides that, your intended point passes me by.
I have no clue. He's not in the NFL though and the prospects of any success at that level have been nearly extinguished. My point is that Russell Shepard has not been correctly utilized, or utilized at all for that matter, in this offense. And that lack of development can be clearly seen with other players as well. Part of my former response was meant for a reply to another user.
