this is right Exactly Mike. You cant blame skip for this if its not corrected you can but he just did what everybody has done and is doing this backing out of games started when ESPN started making TV games so teams had to reschedule or back out of games. Call ESPN not Bertman.
Quoted by 65Grad, I hate to point this out, but, if our 'A' team had shown up for the Florida game the only thing we would be bitching about right now is that we would be #1 ahead of OU except for our SoS. I couldn't agree more, DITTO Hey folks, If we want to become a championship team and be an elite program in college football we can't afford for our team to take any more games off like years past and this year. We can't afford to lose the games we're suppose to win. That is what LSU has always done in the past. And that is what hurt us this year. NOT Skip's schedule, some of that couldn't be avoided. But screw that point. The schedule wouldn't mean shit if we came to BEAT Florida. And some of you who criticized me for talking about no consistancy on offense. I haven't criticized the D once this year. You can't win and be consistant til your whole team plays like a well-oiled machine. We would've lost to Florida then and would be #2 in the Nation.
Well, if a frog had wings it wouldn't...You know the rest... You're right, in that most of this stuff is quibbling... But, from here on out, let's ask the FANS who they want scheduled. How many focus groups were held? How many questionaires were sent out to season ticket holders? How many public meetings were held as far as who we want scheduled? Better yet, who was consulted before we started scheduling ridiculously weak in-state schools? I can understand not scheduling Miami and Oklahoma...But, I can just as easily NOT UNDERSTAND the decision and/or mindset behind these scheduling decisions... Could it be that our athletic department administration NOT THINK to wonder about SOS situations, or contractural wordings being too weak, or leaving back door/loopholes, or just not setting the dollar amount for the buyout high enough? If they didn't think about this...If they honestly didn't consider it, whatever the excuse is...It's a simple way to label this problem... We have an Athletic Department leadership who isn't fit to be in the position they are. You have to have your bases covered, and this one obviously does not. Opponents backing out, opponents buying out, scheduling with NO THOUGHT WHATSOEVER TO OUR SOS, contractural shortcomings allowing teams to back out and hurt us, etc... Like Pink Floyd said, "It's just another brick in the wall," for me. This AD has made silly decisions and made outright stupid decisions time and time again. How long we settle for mediocrity in our leadership I don't know... Maybe it'll take a few more full page ads pleading for good behavior, or another hundred or so cyberside chats...Or maybe we can take the most visible player on our most visible athletic team and embarass him and get him on camera before games pleading with the crowd to encourage better fan behavior... Maybe we can donate 7 million dollars of season ticket holder's money to save oaks that already have a save the oaks foundation, as well as an entire horticulture department, as well as an entire facility services team of paid state employees taking care of them as it already stands... No, people who are on campus at most SEVEN days a damn year need to fork over MILLIONS to make sure the oaks they step or walk on for seven days get taken care of over and above all the other crap we've got going to preserve them...Ever walked around the quad and seen all the Oaks that have plaques by their names because someone donated a huge amount to pay for its upkeep? Or we could talk about how the LSU Athletic Department totally screwed THOUSANDS of LSU fans on the Sugar Bowl Ticket Fiasco. How they reworked a ticketing policy in place for DECADES and then made it up as they went along-making sure that the Tiger Athletic Foundation got as many tickets as they wanted-with one booster who owns car dealerships in New Orleans getting FORTY TICKETS while non-TAF members got ZERO TICKETS? Perhaps we could talk about the ridiculous Tiger Tram system, which was and is a complete and utter failure? I wonder, was it really to relieve traffic on campus, or was it a reason to take away prime parking spots on campus from RV owning LSU fans in order to eventually raffle off those parking spots to the highest bidder, in a never ending attempt to get more money out of LSU football fans? Amazing that they magically found a few dozen spaces left after people pitched a bitch, and a few lucky RV owners still are allowed to park there... This AD Administration has continually made-as red55 used to like to say to me-rookie mistakes. They've made them for going on FOUR FRICKING YEARS NOW... It's time we got someone in there who knows what the hell they're doing. Most of you will disagree with that statement, and take me to task for the contenst of this reply. These would be people who like Skip Bertman the BASEBALL COACH, and not people who can objectively look at an LSU Baseball Coach who was successful as a baseball coach, but a COMPLETE duck out of water as an Athletic Director... Just the fats, jack...
Athletic Dept Belive the AD office is out of control. Skip's problem is he wants everything now. His projects would of eventually been approved if he would space them out. Concerning the Sugar Bowl tickets, Why did LSU need to give the legislators extra tickets? 4 tickets were enough. Concerning TAF, I am a member of TAF and have been since its beginning. Do you think this makes a difference? Because I donot give a lot, I get left out. I have given steady over the years. If the past donations counted, I would have recieved sugar tickets. Skip and Dan need to live in the real world. How many people do you think LSU is paying for to stay in NO for the sugar bowl? How many are essential?
I would love to see some out of conference opponents with real tradition come to death valley. Bring back notre dame. Bring in michigan, penn state, nebraska, miami. Some of these guys had bad seasons, but they'll be back. If we're are gonna claim to be a big fish we gotta get outta the kiddie pool.:cuss:
