I can understand wanting to go to the Rose Bowl because it would be our first visit and also the first for the SEC in 60 years. The only part I don't understand is why some people think the Rose is better than the Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta. The Rose Bowl was dead for two decades until the BCS came into play.

With the Pac-10 usually being weak, the Rose Bowl was thought of more for the parade than the game. ABC only has one bowl so they have to play it up as the Superbowl. It's not! If the Rose Bowl matched up Michigan-LSU or USC-LSU this year, it would be a great game. Michigan-USC would mark the third time in four years that each of the schools were invited to the bowl. It would be a rematch of the 2004 game...boring.

The bowls should be about playing teams you normally don't see. The Big-10 vs. Pac-10 Rose Bowl (pre-BCS) never excited me and still doesn't.

I'll be in Pasadena, Miami, New Orleans, or Orlando. I would like to go to the Rose but won't feel slighted in we go to the Sugar. (I personally believe it's a better bowl.)

The BEST reason to hope & wish for a Florida NC is the same reason that I am happy they won it all in hoops last season.

We will get the chance to beat them as defending NCs IN BR.... :thumb:

A valid point. As to the recruiting arguement, even though we recruit vs Fla, I don't think we are coming with our hat in our hand anymore like we did in the 1980-1990s. LSU is in the mix with plenty of recruits, and BCS bowl play continues to insure that. The state of Fla is always jammed with prosepcts and as pointed out earlier, FSU/Miami are are not going to compete for them as in past years. UF can't take them all and the prospects will know that.

I spent some time on the Michigan boards these past 2 weeks, and there were plenty of people that thought LSU had a great team but there were just as many or more that think the SEC is overrated, even though statistics prove otherwise. The fact is, that the traditional powers outside our conference look down their noses at us, and a Fla NC could make inroads vs that attitude. Combine that with an excellent chance to beat them next year and play for our own NC, we could see the bulls**t about the Pac10, Big10, Big12, and who else was it this year.....the Big East??? being the powerhouse conferences fade away. I really am tired of being penalized for playing in the SEC while other media darlings get a pass for weak schedules and end the season a great deal healthier than we do.

Someone pointed out to me that it is kind of fitting LSU would play in the Sugar Bowl since it is the game's "return" after the storm. Wouldn't that pick up a lot of media attention when it gets out?

I'll be happy with a Sugar Bowl knod. This puts us the National Spotlight while finishing 3rd in the SEC. What does that say about the SEC and about LSU's respect?

2 SEC schools in the BCS and don't forget we share the revenues!

I think a FL win in the NC game helps LSU tremendously in recruiting. If a kid has the chance to play at LSU in the powerhouse SEC and have a shot at a NC or a BCS in the coming years, it's a win-win for FL to be in NC AND WIN IT ALL!

Believe me when I say I dislike FL with a passion even since the late 80's, but I dislike Ohio State even more, especially Brent "Herman" Munster calling the games on ABC.

As far as Notre Dame, it's tradition so the TV audience will be there for us. Finally Brady can play against #7, #30, #31, #72 & #90.

    Bring it on brotha!

    POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME!
