No, I think what happened to us in the Capitol One bowl knocked us out of being #2.

With Texas win over Michigan and Young's insane performance....he wrapped up their #2 spot.

It's the reason Tennessee is so heavily favored/ranked in many polls...because the last image people saw was them kicking A&M's ass.

With Saban, we may be a little higher in some polls but not #1 or #2

 

That makes sense on the surface, but has no basis...

The last image people have of us is losing, yet we are higher than we were to end last season

Of course it has basis.

The ranking of a team doesn't just sit on how the team did in their last game but if a team returns a lot of their returning starters and/or ended the team hot, they will tend to be looked upon more favorably then teams that ended the year on a sour note.

Does this extend to everyone? I don't think so....but I think it happens quite a bit in every year's pre-season rankings.

We return a lot of starters to an already impressive team which is why we rank high but if we had beaten Iowa 50-0 we would be the #2 team quite easily.

 

I had planned to change it every week, but then I got busy trying to build a website for our crew and it has been a bigger pain in the ass then I thought it would be.

IMO if we had a returning head coach we would have been preseason reated higher.

 

Not only Mauck and Clayton but Marquise Hill. Dont forget about him.

Those 3 players may have put us in the Natl. Championship game against USC.

Then they would be talking an LSU 3 Peat.

 

nah... those 3 dont make up a 45-16 gap...
