Some fans (homers) won't be happy until everyone and their moms pick LSU to win every single game. HOW DARE HERBIE PICK AGAINST LSU, HOW DARE HE!!!

If the roles were reversed and we were the underdog coming into this game, you guys would be loving the fact that we were picked to upset Notre Dame. Let's try and be a little more objective here.

If you read my post, I state that LSU SHOULD blow them out. That's opinion. But everything else I stated is FACT. So if the only opinion I stated says what EVERYONE else is saying, that we SHOULD beat them, and everything else I stated is FACTUAL, how can I be more objective?

Fact #1---Herbstreet predicted that Miami would be in the MNC
Fact #2---ND is and has been overrated...as evidenced by the FACT that they have not beaten a single Top 25 team, nor have they won a single bowl game in 8 tries, even though they started out most years highly ranked, this year as high as #2.
Fact # 3---Charlie Weis was nominated for Coach of the Year??!!! What?!!! This makes the media darling comment factual!

I am not MAD that Herbie picked ND, in fact he didn't really pick them. I saw it this morning, and he said it was a game to watch out for an upset special. He only said it to get under Mark May's skin. Personally, I think it's great to hear him say that. Why?? Because, as stated and supported by facts in my post, he's a friggin' idiot!

If I was saying that LSU was going to rush for 350 yards against ND, then you could rightfully say I wasn't being objective. But everything I said is supported by stats and/or facts. That's as objective as I know how to be. I'm not taking into account the "intangibles", because there's no way to measure them. That's what makes them "intangible". But by saying we SHOULD blow them out, I'm covered. If I'm wrong, I will eat crow on this thread January 3rd. It tastes better when served warm.

By the way, Red. Which team that beat LSU is ND as good as? I'm assuming you mean AU? Offensively, yes, but defensively, not a chance. They did fade a bit late in the year, but their offense will be better with injuries healing, and if their defense played like they played against us, they too would destroy ND. If you're talking about UF, then it doesn't deserve a response, so I'll say nothing else.

Actually, I can't help but remind you that on another thread last week, you stated a lot of the same facts that I stated, and predicted LSU 42-27. That's very close to what I predicted, 38-21. What's changed your mind, Red?

An opinion with many caveats. Most people would concede that #9 Auburn and #11 Notre Dame are similar in record, talent, and capabilities.

I didn't change my predicition or my mind. I was responding to people bashing Herbstreit when he mentioned Notre Dame as a possible upset victory. I think it is possible, too.

Notre Dame could upset LSU. I ain't predicting it, but only a fool would assume that LSU is invincible or that Notre Dame is no good. Herbstreit not such a fool. It's a reasonable upset pick.

I saw the show. I didn't come away thinking Herbstreit picked Notre Dame. The subject was "possible upset picks" and he thought ND, for whatever reason, "might could" do it.

    What's the big deal?

It's not like he said, "No way can LSU win this game."

Pete Fiutak, a writer for College Football News wrote this analysis almost three weeks ago.

    I agree with his analysis.

Let's have some fun and apply Bama logic.

ND beat UCLA, barely, but they beat 'em.
    UCLA beat SUC
    SUC beat Arky
    Arky beat Aubie
    Aubie beat LSU

There you have it. ND will beat LSU based on this analysis! What other proof do we need?!
