Met Johnny U at the Sears store on Florida Blvd. in '65 (I was 9). Got his auto on a 8-1/2"x 11" B/W glossy & shook his hand. Became a Colts fan (until they moved to Indy :cuss: ), Bullets fan, and Orioles fan. Orioles now have owner problem, hard to root for (ALA Saints)... I still believe Johnny was the greatest of all time...:thumb:
I met Jim Mora in Destin at a Eckerds Drug Store a long time ago. I even got his autograph on an application for an American Express card. I don't think he liked talking to me though, because I had asked him why he put Bobby Hebert in the game the week before, ( I think it was the game with Philadelphia), I was at that game and everybody booed when Bobby Hebert came into the game, he was only in for one play. Anyways he told me Bobby Hebert didn't play and I told him yes he did, I told him that I was at the game, and that every one had booed him, then he said oh yeah,he did play one play. I told him that was what I just said. I think when I first asked him if he was Jim Mora, he musta thought he was important or something.
I see LSU athletes all the time around campus etc. The girls that live above me are friends with a few of them, so I see them around my apartment on occassion. Xavier Carter was over this morning. I met Johny Knoxville when he was here in BR filming Dukes of Hazard. He was at the Fred's bar like 4 nights a week. He was a cool guy. I've seen a couple other celebrities through out my life. But I never talk to them or ask for their autograph. I always figured that it would aggrevate me to have strangers want an autograph & think they knew me, so I just keep on my merry way & let them do their thing.
Yeah, the only automotive store in LA now is in New Orleans.....it recently went under too unfortunately....literally. I think all of the New Orleans stores are open now though.
forgot-------I was introduced to "Bum" Phillips by my uncle. He and my uncle had met on the plane. N.O. airport
Met Pres. Bush (Sr.) and Pres. Bush (Jr.) all in the same year. One in Portland, Maine. The other during the Katrina debacle when he came to our ship a couple of times. He came and ate with us down in our enlisted galley, took pictures and whatnot with people. Also met Chaney. seemed like a good guy. Kinda funny my Senior Medical Officer told me to get the defid read (just in case) :hihi:
