Let the chips fall where they may. I've never in my life as a Tiger fan seen such ridiculous statements/predictions/lack of respect. That includes the 90s. In the 90's, we had no reason to be respected. But now? Seriously? - I'm so sick and tired of the Miles bashing. Sick and tired of the "8-8 in the SEC in the last two seasons" BS. Why are those two seasons lumped together?? Why isn't it 3-5, THEN 5-3?? That seems like a two game improvement to me. Am I missing something? I seem to remember getting our arses handed to us multiple times in '08, and seem to remember thinking in the 4th quarter of every game last year that we could win. We didn't get our arses kicked by anyone. That can be applied to the "JLee should be starting" crowd as well. JJ kept us in EVERY game last year. JLee led us to some embarassing losses against UGA and UF...and last year, damn near to LA TECH! - Either seperate the '08 & '09 seasons, and see the improvement from one to the other, or quit bichin when people say Les Miles averages over 10 wins/season. Both are facts...we are 8-8 in the SEC over the last two seasons, but Les Miles also averages over 10 wins per season. Deal with it. - Speaking of that...in '08, we were 3-5 in the SEC and had some arse handed to us. In '09, we were 5-3, and were absolutely competitive, and in every game. I hear and read everyone saying we should be better in the run game, and OL. So, why is it that we will be worse this year than the last two??? - It's one thing to be glad to be flying under the radar, letting the media underestimate us. But what I'M sick of is our own "fans" not just underestimating us, but insulting the coach, staff, and team as a whole. I can't wait to see the crow served. - Sorry...just had to vent.
Sportswriters are no smarter than we are. They are also bandwagon jumpers. They have no idea how this season will play out. Pre season polls are useless. This thread should die.
Damn good thread, it's getting me ready for football season!!! Of course camp has to open on 8/4 first. But, everyone is disrespecting us, and most of the fans think they are wrong. I like that, play the games and lets see what happens! Many excellent posts in this thread, kudos to everyone who has posted, including fishhead and dudley! I like fishheads point about the last 2 seasons being 8-8 in the SEC, but failing to point our the improvement to 5-3 last year. We were definitely better in 09, mainly we got the D fixed. Now we need to get the O fixed, and we'll be cooking with GAS!
It isn't the sportswriters that have ME upset. I truly don't care what they think. And to be fair, my prior comment probably doesn't belong in this thread. But I'm sick of the "fans" that are so ready to get rid of Miles, who has a 75% winning percentage in his 5 years here, along with a National Championship. Tired of them only looking at the last two seasons, and then lumping those two seasons together to better make their argument, since the fact that LSU improved last season blows their theory out of the water. Tired of them not allowing real "fans" to lump all 5 seasons together, since the current trend is down...but in reality, the "down" was a blip on the radar, and a new trend, "up", was started last season. You nailed it with your earlier post. We have to earn the respect back...and as far as the media is concerned, I don't give a rats hind end what they think. But our own fans? On a fan board?? People need to stop finding every negative thing and lumping it together to whine about LSU!. - This isn't a "make or break" year for Miles. Miles will be here until his contract runs out, at LEAST. Book it. Don't like it? Better find another team to root for. There is no reason to fire Miles. This team would have to implode, have some sort of scandal, or suffer sanctions for Miles to be fired at this point in his tenure. And no, 8-5, 9-4 seasons are NOT implosions. All he's done is consistently win and run a clean program, along with bringing in HUGE recruiting classes. But because he doesn't speak like James Earl Jones, he's a buffoon, and needs to be canned. Because he goofed up the OM game, he should be canned. Forget about the games where he made gutsy calls that WORKED, and went for the win, and SUCCEEDED. Forget that. He should be fired. He's on the hot seat. Forget about the other great minds that also had lapses in judgement/execution. Like no other coach in history has ever given a bad interview. See Saban post ULM debacle. By the way, see that a Saban led team lost...LOST...to ULM!! See Texas lose to Texas Tech, a team that later that year got THROTTLED by lefire:, but if we lose to lefire:, fire Les Miles. See USC lose to the likes of Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State, but if we lose to UF and Bama, fire Les Miles. Ridiculous.
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Those that hate Miles, hated him from day one. He's the stepdaddy. They don't love him like daddy. They'll never respect him like their daddy. He can take them camping and to the Chuck E Cheese every day for eternity and he still wouldn't be daddy. They look for every excuse they can find to rag on Miles, because maybe they can sway their brother or sister to hate stepdaddy, too. It's like some fans have forgotten their place as fans. But, who knows, I could be wrong.
Would you like to be mayor of Baton Rouge? Seriously, you're on fire today, good going. I hope we can have this much fun during the season! :geaux:
I'm a Miles supporter and I don't object to legitimate criticism. I think this year is a pivotal year for :miles: and his tenure as the LSU head coach.
Yeah, I agree with you fully. Fish makes some great points, but the trends the last two years cannot be ignored, not specifically the W-L record, but the product on the field. Fish is probably right, CLM will be here at least thru his contract if this year is status quo or better, but a poor season may change that, imho.
