My LSU education all these years has apparently been sorely lacking since I went all this time and never heard of purple drank until Jamarcus.
I'm not sure, but I believe that the codeine makes you sleepy. Not the desired tailgate or gameday effect. But heck....we have more than 40 days to have sweet dreams.:hihi:.
At this point in the preseason is it really worth having the other attitude? Why be all negative and expect the team to fail. With that as an expectation why even bother to have the season. As is the mindset of some who have already decided this season will be a failure. Right it off, go ahead and line Miles up for the firing squad. No need to even play the games. Based on some peoples opinion there is no way the Tigers could have a chance at being successful. As I am sure you have read the bazzillion posts claiming such. As much as that post was sunshine pumping, I do have some very realistic expectations that are a little bit more down to earth.
Yes, Defy yourself. Sometimes in life you have to step outside "Yourself", and make things uncomfortable in order to get out of your comfort zone.
IF you truly believe their opinion, then I dont know what to tell you. 1st, how Arky can even be considered 2nd in the west with probably one of the worst D's in the SEC is beyond me. Second, Auburn is no better. Granted, LSU has a hard Sched, but its not so bad that it ruins us. What ruins us is a poor Offensive and unaggressive line, no run game and a lack of controlling the line on D. The first game will tell a lot. From what I have read and seen from our players, I know we will all see a much improved LSU team. We could always lose because nothing is guaranteed, but I just don’t see that happening. If we have ANY offensive spark in the UNC game, every team in the SEC will have a second opinion of LSU. It is all based on little to no production on O.
I love how underrated LSU is right now! We're so under the radar. I wish they would have picked us last. When you see the players talk (like Peterson), they have little smiles in the corners of their mouthes. They know they have an extraordinary team this year. One can never predict, but I see LSU finishing with at least 10 wins. I think the dog fights will go our way this year. One thing CLM said in SEC media day I thought to be interesting was the chemistry and teaching among players. Every championship team always has to have great chemistry among players. I heard some idiot host on 690 AM predict LSU as going 7-6. Really? LSU is going to be on fire this year. Even if they lose a few close ones to great SEC teams, I think you will have seen an inspired, motivated team who will have exhausted themselves physically and mentally with the sole purpose of winning--competition at its highest level. I'm excited about the upcoming season. I can't wait to slap the national media in the face with an incredible, extraordinary and dominant LSU football team.
With a little optimism, believing that JJ makes progress with a years experience under his belt, and Studwara makes some improvements on the o-line vs last season, I pick the Tigers 10-2. I don't think the season will go the way most think, and we could upset Bama, and lose to Arky. I could see 9-3 very easy given how tough the schedule is. No way this team should ever be over confident this year. They have a lot to prove. It's time for Russell Shepard, Ruben Randall, Mike Ford, Craig Loston, well let's say our young 5* recruits, to step up and show that they are as good as advertised when they came in.
Excellent Post!! Everybody's judging this team on last year's team. This is an entirely different team, better at every position imo. Better at running back with Ridley and Ford. better at QB with a year's experience, better in the OL with subtractions and additions and one of the best receiving groups in the SEC. Also better coaching with a new off... oops, I mean passing game coordinator and not to be overlooked, Big Ben Wilkerson. Our team speed and defensive backfield is going to make it difficult for teams to pass and run wide on us, but can they run up the middle on us? I think we have the answer there too with Nevis, Levingston, Josh Downs, Benny Logan (my surprise player of the year), Michael Brockers and Chris Davenport. This is potentially a championship team. The downside is they are very young and inexperienced and facing a challenging schedule. It's going to be fun watching them develop. I can't wait.
I agree, great post! - esp. for your first one. Kind of fired me up. I will say though, if they finish with 10 wins, then we should not have "lost a few close ones to 'great' SEC teams." In fact, these are the ones that we NEED to win, imo, even if they are close and hard fought. This does have the potential to be a very special season!
