Worse than the blowouts when we played them in SF, were the games in the Dome where we'd beat the crap out of Montana for 58 minutes, then go to the prevent so he could beat us in the last 2.
To this day my wife is still pissed about the MNF game in the Dome back in the 90's when Jerry Rice caught the bomb from Montana and started celebrating before he crossed the goal line, clearly fumbled the ball (at about the 2 yard line) through the end zone, and was credited with the game winning touchdown anyway. She was furious for months. It's still a sore subject around our house and that has to have been at least 15 years ago. I think Penn Wagers was heading up the officiating crew that day.
Game 1, 1988 IIRC. It was even featured in one of those "You make the call promos" "Even though it was ruled a touchdown, the correct call s/h/b New Orleans ball at the 20." I think that was the only time they featured a blown call in one of those.
I was at the '87 game at the 'Stick, when we held on to beat 'em 26-24. Morton kicked a FG late in game to put us ahead. Montana got the ball back with a minute left, but they uncharacteristically fell apart that day. Almost got into like 10 fights on the way out of the stadium with my Saints gear on. THAT was a good day. :thumb:Saintslogo
Remember that game well. I think Montana got the ball all the way down to about the 40 but time ran out before they could run another play. They were about 10 seconds more on that clock of destroying the Saints' fans dreams once again. And if I am remembering correctly, Anderson's FG was from about 37 yards out and barely went inside the right upright.
