Just tell one of them that another of them just spit on the first one's camel. That ought to get the clans warring against each other for the next 100 years.
I agree which is why those screaming for an "exit plan" don't understand that you have to stick around and see it through.
Ok, what exactly constitutes "seeing it through". Be specific, because it looks like we are making it up as we go. Rumsfeld says we may be there for 12 years. Cheney thinks the insurrection is in its last throes. Bush thought the mission was accomplished two years ago. For those screaming that we must not leave until we win . . . What exactly constitutes victory here? And what do we get when we win? Saddam is already captured and the WMDs were mythical. That's already done. We conquered Iraq in 21 days and occupied their capital. Staying there for years and trying to run the place when every raghead hates us, wants us to leave, and is trying to kill our soldiers . . . that's what is imperialist, Caesar.
i want to argue about this, but i realize that if you say something like this, you might have such a simplistic understanding that the amount of effort i would have to put into explaining it might not be worth it.
imperialism noun 1. The policy of extending a nation's authority by territorial acquisition or by the establishment of economic and political hegemony over other nations. 2. The system, policies, or practices of such a government. 3. Any instance of aggressive extension of authority Tirk is right, it's very easy to understand.
Nice cop-out, martin. If you have to put that much effort into your explanation, perhaps it needs revising. So you're saying imperialism doesn't create problems? You're saying what we're doing is not imperialist? Nonsense. Even the most staunch Bush supporters have little trouble admitting that this is, in every way, 'nation building' (an idea that W roundly rejected when he was trying to sell the war). Give it your best shot. We'll see if I can wrap my tiny little brain around your incredibly complex theory. (I've got $10 that says it's an argument I've had before with someone else, btw)
