Well, my story isn't as exciting as others. A few semesters ago some classmates and I were working on a group project involving tailgating and the south. When we were filming narration for it, we thought it would be fun to film it from the field. We walked into the stadium and started filming. No one really seemed to care we were there until some old guy came by and told us to leave. Like I said, not all that exciting.
I have many stories about Tiger Stadium...The best one is from this year, and it involves me and Crawfish... NO, ITS NOT THAT KIND OF STORY, YOU PERVERTS! We actually met up for lunch at Gattis, and then went down to the field to "check out the condition"... That football field has to be in the single worst shape of any football field I've ever been on. Totally deplorable...I'm guessing it's the natural grass equivalent of the old Veteran's Stadium... I remember telling Sam that it had the potential to "Wendell Davis somebody"...
BTW-That was actually before the Georgia game, if I'm not mistaken...so it was a feat to go through with no ankle turns...
Oh yeah... 1984....really started cracking down on alcohol in stadium.......4 of us snuck in..Friday night ...game next day.....2am or so...ran patterns on the field.....laid down on the eye for a bit.... will never forget the feel of the cool wet grass on the fiddy yard line looking up at the stars.... We planted our booze in the student section and snuck out..... saw 4 ppl handcuffed and being escorted out of the stadium....guess we were lucky they found them first....... when we got home...realized we were covered in purple paint from the eye and end zones..... went to game next day and rescued our stashed booze.... wow... Anybody been on the cat walk under the Miss river bridge? Now that is a great trip...
I've snuck in Tiger Stadium a whole lot of times. It's the best just being in there by yourself. You stand in the tunnel where the players run out and you imagine 92,000 people standing up screaming their lungs out and its crazy. I love it.
really its that easy? i many times thougt about how i wanted to get in there and toss a football around, dance in the endzone and whatnot. next time i am in baton rouge i might give it a shot.
2 things, the stadium is actually open to the public. You can go in if you like and no one will really mess with you. I think its open regular business hours and maybe even on the weekends. A lot of people go and use it as a photo op. As to the bridge, getting up on the cat walk is really cool and worth the trip. You climb up a drain pipe near the levy and it will take you to a catwalk under the bridge. Its cool, the cars are rumbeling by above you and the pillars that hold up the bridge in the middle of the river actually have platforms on them that you can climb down a latter to and hang out. A must do for anybody. Well worth the effort.
Many years ago, a buddy & I crossed the old Miss River Bridge on our bikes. That was when there was a narrow sidewalk on the side. When I think about it, I cringe...... The Lord must have had his angels looking after us stupid kids.
