Sarcasm noted and appreciated. That said, the Daily Advertiser is NOT a ULL newspaper. It is an Acadiana newspaper based in Lafayette. Trust me, in the subscriber area served by the Advertiser there are far more LSU fans than ULL fans. The paper was merely serving it's readers. If the ULLers want a schill for their university they should subscribe to (ULL student rag) The Vermilion. Interestingly (coincidentally?) there was a column from the Executive Editor this weekend stating that they are assigning a full time reporter to the ULL (all areas, including sports) beat. But they still won't be satisfied because they want to be referred to as UL not UL-Lafayette and the paper just won't do it.

No more ULL forums for me

I had been checking out the ULL forums a little for the past couple of weeks. I usually root for all other Louisiana schools but the Cajun fans attack LSU so much that I've been sensing my attitude changing towards them. I'm usually a nice guy to people I encounter, do unto others and everything but...

I went to the Bank One at lunch today on Westheimer/Gessner (in Houston) and there was a guy getting out of an SUV with a UL bumper sticker (Lafayette was really small underneath the big UL letters). I was walking by and said, "Hey, UL, you guys have a really good basketball team this year." He replied saying the season is still young but they'd played Arizona and a couple of other good teams really close and he liked their chances this year. I said, "Well, I saw the game when y'all beat Kentucky and Pitino's teams are always dangerous in the tourney."

I wish I would've had one of those camera phones to take a picture of his expression when he realized I was talking about Louisville. He just said, "Oh, no, I'm a University of Louisiana fan." When I looked puzzled, he said, "We used to be USL and changed our name a few years ago." I just apologized and said the UL letters in red looked like Louisville because that's their colors too.

I wish I could've had a better final comeback but it was probably my best Oscar winning performance of my life. I could tell this wasn't the first time he's had to explain to someone in Houston who UL(L) is and was (and wants to be).
