1. Let's see:

    1. Performnce off the bench in the Outback Bowl
    2. Arizona State
    3. Alabama

    10-1 record as a sophomore

Yep, he's terrible. Miles needs to pull his scholarship.
  2. Exactly, glad I'm not the only seeing this. Well, I'm sure 99 is also.
  3. Same here. looks like he missed on two of us!!!
  4. No, he wins games.

Sometimes his play has been inconsistant, but he's young.

The inconsistant part is just my opinion, if you go by wins alone, he's been super.

the win column likes him, and he may not have even peaked yet.

So no thus far he hasn't been a disappointment.

You talk like his "career" at LSu is over? shouldn't we reserve this thread for when he graduates or moves on?
  5. this is in the top 2 dumbest ever ideas for a thread. the guy just completed his sophomore season and was a cornerstone for the team thru all the Katrina mess...
  6. Has any QB at LSU ever had a better 1st year as a starter? I doubt it, and this dumbass wants to call him a dissapointment.
  7. So you're one of those that judge any and all players based on one game?

Russell is the currently Touchdown Club SEC Player of the Year you know....Care to take a stab at his W-L record as a starter???

NO, Mrx...Russell's career as a Tiger is HARDLY a "disappointment". He may not be as "flashy" as some of our former QB's, but the bottom line is that, for better or worse, he has a stellar record as a starter.

It's not known whether Flynn or RP will ever beat out Jamarcus as the starting QB (that's up to the players themselves and the coaching staff), but let's just say that either Flynn or RP beat out JR...So what. You STILL can't take away the fact that JR lead LSU to an outstanding regular season record and was among the top passers in the SEC (efficiency-wise) this past season.

To claim that his career is a disappointment is truely biased and absurd.
  8. Did you have to mention Brooks?
    Remember we have had worse
  9. Completely assinine proposition.

MRX -- how about dedicating a website to determining whether it's better to have more or less money.

Mo money mo problems? Discuss amongst yourselves.
  10. Stop posting here, please.

This could very well be the worst post Ive ever read on this or any other forum. Russell is a prototypical QB. He has tremendous size (6' 6" 252 lb.) and armstrength, and while he is not scrambler, he is fast enough to get out of the pocket when necessary (4.7 40 time). Hes very comparable to Ben Roethlisberger (6' 5" 240 and 40 in 4.8) in attributes like that, though not intelligence, but give JR another year or two of reading defenses and that wont be an issue. Gee, why would we want a guy like that?

Lets continue: Flynn is a talented QB no doubt. But his Peach Bowl performance can be entirely attributed to to things: Joseph Addai's performance and the lack of video on the guy. Addai was in beast mode in this game and proved why he should be a day 1 if not round 1 selection. The lack of video Miami had of Flynn at their disposal was the nail in Miami's defensive coffin. They didnt know what he could do and were ready for a larger, slower, stronger QB in Russell.

Aaron Brooks are you kidding me? Thats like saying Corey Webster reminds you of Demetrius Hookfin. In other words there is no comparison. One is highly talented and is regarded as one of the best in the country (Russell). While the other is regarded as one of the worst in the country (Brooks). Brooks is strong armed and fast, but is as dumb as a brick, refuses to read defenses, tries to run way too often, and makes many ESPN highlights by throwing the ball backwards. Russell on the other hand, is much more adept at throwing the ball than Brooks, has consistantly gotten better at reading defense, and is constantly looking to throw the ball downfield, even when the pressure is on.

In case you cant tell, I am sick of hearing people whine about Russell, especially when they try to bring up Flynn as a reason for their whining. Russell is easily telented enough to start for any college team and could probably start in the NFL now, based purely on his size and skills. JR will be the next great NFL QB out of LSU and you can book that right now.
