Making us sound like clowns? The only ones listening are Bammers. I could care less if they sound like clowns in front of that audience! :thumb:
I distinctly remembered the booing, so I put in a DVD and watched the end of the half. With 24 seconds left in the half and no timeouts left, LSU had the ball 2nd and 10 on Tennessee’s 14. JaMarcus was flushed out of the pocket and ran to the Tennessee 5 and was tackled with 15 seconds left and was back on his feet with 13 seconds remaining. LSU ran the field goal team out to kick, but time expired before they were able to line up. There was most definitely booing. In the halftime interview, Miles blamed JaMarcus for not throwing the ball away. Fair enough, but in my opinion there was enough time left to have JaMarcus spike the ball to stop the clock instead of running the kicking team out. I didn’t boo, but I was frustrated for a few seconds about that one play. So the fans who did boo would not have booed if the same thing happened under St. Nick? Give me a break. There are so many things to take apart in that “article”, but I just wanted to clear up what he was referring to about booing. Sorry the volume is so low, but this is the best I can do for now – Video of the last 24 seconds
Maybe Finebaum should go back and listen to some of the radio calls after the wonderful UAB game under Saban. Yea, we loved him that night.
I live in Bham and what this paul guy says doesnt mean much...he says things for shock value to get people to listen or read his stuff...his show on the radio is more comedy than sports...he is bashing lsu right now b/c Les is killing saban in recruiting. On top of that he is a huge bammer fan and lsu owns bammer the last 7 yrs. If you wanna hear this fool its free and its pretty funny. http://wjox1005fm.com/:lsup:
Or what about after the Ole Miss game in 2001 when Eli whipped us in TS? I member the call in shows after that game were calling for Saben's head and saying how he was leading us down the wrong way. Funny how the end of that year changed everything for Saben so fast and how fast people forget.
Finebaum looks like he should have been on the Jetsons....just look at the picture. He probably could have convinced Elroy of a few things...but I doubt it.
We rally have to cut this guy a little slack. After all, he spends all his waking hours blinded by the glare from his extended forehead.
Why are we still paying attention to him? This is clearly a Trev-Alberts syndrome victim. That is, this is a person who blooms on attention, whether it's negative or positive. The only real way to piss them off is to ignore them. Indifference is far and away a worse reaction than outrage to people like this. All in favor of no more Finebaum related threads say aye!
I have been familiar with finebaum for several years, because my Wife is from south bama, he is a classic bama fan, he is convinced that bama football is the best in the history of football, and has won 50 national championships, and he was leading the parade of discontents running shula out of tuscalusa. With that said the thing that strikes me about his article is all of the halarious inconsistencies: (1) finebaum says Miles has gotten the least out of the program he inherited from Saban, BUT he Miles has won 11 games back to back and Saban never did that, not to mention he won 3 games more than Saban's last season in his first season on the job. And that was a strange season where the Tigers played 11 games in a row due to two devastating hurricanes that ravaged LA. (2) finebaum says Miles is only winning with saban's players, and yes saban recruited these players but Miles developed these players, just look at Russell's progress after saban left and Miles took over. (3) finebaum's most amusing comments dealt with LSU and bama's upcoming seasons and clashes, stating that LSU should win the next couple, basically giving saban an excuse to run bama's losing streak to LSU to 5 or 6 games, and this is something that no bama fan granted any other coach, it just shows how far finebaum has his head up saban's azz. (4) finebaum trashes Baton Rouge and LA and LSU fans in general, hey buddy you live in alabama, and write a column about bama football so I suggest finebaum take inventory of his state and the bama fans and then rethink his trashing of LSU. I mean bama, which he still thinks is a top college program, cant keep a coach and ran a coach out of town who was one season removed from going 10-2, and who was granted an extension less than a year ago, but he calls LSU fans classless for booing at the half of the Tenn game last year, well if he would have watched the game and seen the terrible play that ended the half, a Jamarcuss sack well within field goal range that ran the clock out, he would know that the booing was at a lost scoring opportunity and not directed at Miles. (5) He says Miles has gotten the least out of LSU and the great program he inherited from saban, BUT Miles has not lost to an opponent that was a far inferior opponent, only losses to Tenn (then ranked top 10), GA (top 10 in SEC champ) AU (top 5) and UF (national champ), but lets not forget the memorable losses that saban had to UAB, and the terribe losses at AU (giving up a 4-18), ARKY (last second hail marry) and Iowa (hail marry) - and the reason I bring up the later games that saban lost is because those games were lost by defensive mishaps and especially mishaps in the secondary a position that is saban's specialty. (6) finebaum discusses the possibility of Miles leaving to go to mich., how dare he talk about a coach jumping ship when he is supporting saban, the king of leaving a job half done, no that is the pot calling the kettle black. Those are my thoughts, at first the article pissed me off but by the end I was actually laughing out loud because this was so absurd.
