You always want to catch fish when you take a young kid with you. Some kids love it no matter what and some kids get bored if you're not catching anything. When my two nephews were about 10 and 8 I started taking them fishing. The older one is 23 now and he still loves to fish. The younger one liked it whenever the fish were biting one after another but he got bored quickly if it was slack or if they didn't bite at all. I don't think he has been fishing in years now. He would rather play his guitar and smoke pot.
