Randall won't be THE QB at LSU. He might be the change of pace guy, but not THE QB. And no, I'm not being racist...he has a cannon, but isn't all that accurate.
Pretty much what I was thinking. It's not that far fetched to think Mettenberger might be in the Heisman mix next year. If he has a phenomenal season he might find the lure of the NFL too much to pass up. If I'm not mistaken, Zach has 2 seasons of eligibility left (maximum). As hot of a signing Kiel is, this is Mettenberger's team for up to two years.
Before I got excited, I had to check and make sure he did not play baseball... I did not find anything on baseball! WoooHOOO!
I think Kiel gets the redshirt this next season. Smart move and will put another year between Rivers/Randall and Kiel. I think this is Mett's job to lose and depending upon how he does next season, it will be his job for one or two seasons. I don't know who is more QB ready between Randall and Rivers. If I remember correctly, recruiting services had Rivers as being more of a project than Randall? I would assume that after Mett leaves it will be a battle royale to see who wins the QB job. In the back of my mind, I still don't discount Randall, I think he may be a better overall QB than people think.
Great pick up and should move us up in the rankings. Once again Miles doing an excellent job filling needs.
Any chance of Randall or Rivers looking at another position, or are they pure QB's like Mett and Gunner?
Its all a matter of what the depth chart looks like at the end of the spring. Kiel will be an early enrollee, meaning he will able to participate in spring practice. This is huge. Based on his film, the only weakness I see is that he has a low release point, but this is after searching for something to complain about. What it will come down to is how quickly he picks up the playbook.
