it looks horrible for les, it really does. and maybe word of this will get out and hurt LSU in recruiting. i'm just looking at the whole issue. Les loses RR and this whole board starts calling him incompetent and how stupid he is for letting RR go and signing benton who most would worry about his grades while at LSU. nah, miles loses RR (La.'s #1 in state recruit) to bama (let's say instead of OU) then everyone starts calling check mate in the whole miles vs saban thing. it's perception and the perception of les screwing over one kid in favor of not losing the golden goose is the path of least resistance. instead of placing blame where it belongs which presumably is somewhere in the RR camp.
Um - hey, just a thought: If yesterday was a "dead" period with no contact allowed, how could his scholarship offer be rescinded? Just wondering.
the president in "the rock" had to nuke alcatraz. it was a tough decision but probably for the greater good.
what did i say that was hypocritical? The staff worked their butts off for a player that did not seem to want to put in the effort. 2 years to get eligible? And to make it worse, he takes a trip to another SEC school? I agree that bowing down to parents is not a great thing. But faced with the choice of one player that wants to be here and one player that does not really give a crap. I am choosing the one that wants to be here.
I'm lost... I take it this has something to do with what I read in the paper about a depth issue quoted to Randle's father? I thought Benton was a bubble due to academics anyway? Did we offer him this season and string him along? I don't see an issue here. These 16-18 year old kids get on a power trip when they have talent and 35+ year old men fawning over them. I'm sure there is enough blame to pass around but I don't fault Miles. Benton has to play the cards he was dealt and could have been in school a long time ago. To me this isn't any different than the stud coming in and taking the starters position on the team. Benton may have a better opputunity at Bama anyway.
I don't like it. Benton is a really talented receiver. I don't like the fact that we pulled his offer. It looks really bad, but there are many other things to consider: 1.) Benton had 2 previous chances to become a Tiger and couldn't get qualified. 2.) If Miles loses RR to Bama or OU, he would have been BLASTED! 3.) Benton took a visit to Auburn (or did he?) after the LSU coaches had been loyal to him for 2 years. 4.) Were numbers ever really an issue? Also, once we nabbed Montgomery, maybe the coaches thought we had a good shot at Trent Richardson, and maybe even a few others.... Benton, the academic question mark, became a casualty. Again, I don't like the fact that we pulled his offer at the 11th hour, but I don't know all the details either. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
Westley: Why can't I move? Why am I up against this wall? Fezzik: You've been mostly-dead all day ... Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. Love that movie !
