I stopped by the Cafe this weekend, Steve. My luck the place was closed for Good Friday.

I was just going to stop by and say hello because it was around 2:30 after our golf round at the Abita Springs Golf and Country Club and we had plans to go see Big Daddy O play at Louisiana Grill in Mandeville. I probably would have taken down an appetizer anyway though.:hihi:

Hopefully I have a chance to try again sooner rather than later.

Of all the luck, I was(and still am) looking forward to meeting you and your family.

We have to make some kind of plans to get together. I always close on Good Friday because of the somber, prayerful nature of that day. In the old days in New Orleans, the whole city used to shut down...including all the theaters and restaurants. No business owner wanted to detract from the seriousness of that day.

But times have changed. Now there's big and heavy partying on Good Friday...it's the restaurants big day for selling seafood. you can't even get crawfish on that day and when you do, they're expensive.

BhelmLSU, maybe we can get together at nighttime because for the last month, I've opened for service Friday and Saturday nights. I just realized that I never posted my hours of operation.

They are Tuesday through Saturday 6:00am till 2:00pm (breakfast and lunch). Sunday 6:00am till 1:00pm (breakfast only). with dinner service on Friday and Saturday evenings.

    Please feel free to call me at (985) 869 3070 cell...OR...(985) 867 9950 cafe

I don't mind if you want to call me to tell me how bad some of my smart aleck posts may be. I promise no hard feelings at all .

Big Daddyo is a great blues singer around here. The head of his recording company,Rabadash records John Autin ate at the cafe and performed at the cafe a while back and he wanted to get Big Daddyo to play here at the cafe, but it never really happened yet.

We will work something out Steve, no worries. We love making stops to Abita on our way to and from Slidell.

My father-in-law is friends with Owen so we go see him play as much as possible. We recently sent emails to Palmettos to get Owen back to perform on Sundays and it worked.

BTW, I always forget his name but who is the manager of Big Daddy O's band and he is great as well? I saw him perform at the piano bar at the carousel bar in the Monteleone.

Probably John Autin of Rabadash records...he plays piano...good guy.

I'm announcing that for the Opry special dinner you'll have a choice of 10 oz NY strip with Marchand du vin sauce, grilled Red Snapper with crabmeat artichoke sauce, and grilled Mahi Mahi with a chipotle cream sauce...among other things that may be on that night's menu.

Maybe this can become like a musical "tailgate". I don't have a liquor license so you can bring your own wine, beer or liquor to the cafe. (Lotta good food for $15)

Call me ahead of time so I can secure the opry tickets for you guys.

I will look into that date and see what we have planned. I am sending the info to my father-in-law regardless. Hope I can make it but going to be hard to convince the wife since we traveled last weekend, going to French Quarter Fest next weekend, and have Jazz Fest at the end of the month. My wife never misses a day of Jazz Fest.
