I agree. LSU gets close all the time, but we can't seem to wrap it up and hold the lead in the last few minutes. It happens too often. The coaches should've known what was going to happen in the last 50 seconds, but the obvious seems to escape them. It happens almost everytime we play Alabama anymore. LSU ends up defeating itself.
I disagree with you Red. Our recruiting class may have been ranked second last year but we were number one. This freshman class is the best I've ever seen. They are growing up fast. They played their asses off last night.
That's the thing, they can't. Not one anti Les anti Jennings guy has even admitted Quinn killed 2 drives, and Dupree killed 1 and blew a TD. And Dural's fall lead to an INT. Nor will they admit Jennings picked up 3 firsts w his legs. 17 first downs. Should have been 20. That's more than enough to win the way we ran the ball and the way the d played sans Jalen Collins getting bitched twice by Cooper on the same play, and the defense not making a tackle in bounds on UA's last drive. It's all Miles and Jennings. Always will be, win lose, tie, terrorist attack that blows up the stadium. All on Miles. And it's gotten way past pathetic.
I don't pin this on any one in particular, we certainly had numerous chances. However, Jennings is another Georgia reject who should be playing Div II ball.
Then so is Quinn. Except he is a Louisiana one. Be fair, you aren't. Quinn has zero nuts and least Jennings isn't scared to take a hit. How many 1st downs has he dropped over the middle this year, 5?
No this one doesn't fall entirely on Miles and Jennings, but they certainly deserve their fair share of the blame. It's like if someone dropped you off in the middle of Russia and expected you to be able to conduct business successfully without knowing the language. When the LSU offense is asked to go to it's passing game it's like asking the players to speak a language they have never learned because passing isn't part of our offensive philosophy. It looks like a Chinese fire drill, no one has a clue what to do. Bama didn't win this game in overtime, they won it in the off season when they developed a passing game and LSU did not.
You're right, LSU doesn't have a passing game, and Anthony Jennings is nothing more than a game manager and a poor one most of the time, But the receivers share that blame. That's all I'm trying to say. I'm not sure Trey Quinn has the balls to play in the slot. And it needs to be said Rashard Robinson not going to class wouldn't have been bitched like Cooper bitched Collins. I hope that young man knows he failed his team by not being there last night.
LSU has great talent. The early departures left us inexperienced but this team has made great strides thru the season and is playing much better football...except for one position where there has been little improvement since Wisconsin. I would like the AU and MSU games back. I think we win both if we played today.
its because they are the common denominator. we dont have a passing game because of our head coach. jennings is consistently inconsistent. how many times a game has quinn seen a ball thrown his way? 1 maybe 2 at most. thats not a passing game. thats desperation. of course we blame the usual suspects. les and his really bad passing quarterback.
How many passes has Jennings put on target this year? One guy drops a couple and the other misses many.
