It just so happened that Clinton got a BJ. It was about a president lying under oath really though. I get what you're saying but he was disbarred in his home state.....and not for a BJ.

But the same thing has happened in the CIA agent case with Scooter Libby. This was an investigation to find out who leaked Plame's name correct? But Libby was not indicted for that........in fact, no one was indicted for that. Where's your outrage?

The constitution is a living document - if it needs to be changed, it can be. America would not be what it is today without the Constitution.

I think you're taking a basic idea about not necessarily feeling things are wrong just because they are against the law & applying it to the constitution...

The Bill of Rights was created to protect people from the government, very few other laws are forumalted with the same intent.

Not explicitly, but a right to privacy has long been recognized by the courts regardless.

I'm not a Constitutional attorney either. I just know Roe was based on a "right to personal privacy" of which there is no guarantee of in the Constitution. The Fourth Amendment promises against unreasonable search and seizure. Saying that a woman has a right to an abortion because the Fourth Amendment promises no unreasonable search and seizure is a stretch.

You didn't hear me say I didn't care about leaks. If a CIA agent's name was leaked by anyone, indict and prosecute them. Has that happened? Not that I know of.

And let's get something straight. I am no Bush lover. If Bush lyed under oath like Clinton, I would want him impeached just like I wanted Clinton impeached.

I know. I guess I just feel that if something that vital must be covertly done, then it should stay covert. Seriously covert. Like in "Mission Impossible" where if you screw up, you will be disavowed. If this data was so important that an illegal operation had to be done, then it should have been an entirely black operation. Time should have never been able to find out about it. Same with the Abu Ghairaib scandals. If the intelligence was important enough to to violate the Geneva Convention to get, then some doofus National Guardsmen shouldn't have been able to photograph the fun and put it on the internet.

This administration has no idea of how to operate covertly if they can't contain stories about a secret domestic intelligence operation. They are instead left trying to justify it overtly and they can't win. How foolish was trying to get the US exempted from all international conventions regarding torture of prisoners? It was a cinch to fail. We might as well announce, "We intend to torture your prisoners and we just want you to know about it and that we think it's all right."

I understand a country must sometimes do some dirty business, but we have high ideals in America that keep us on the right course. When we must conduct dirty business, then it must be a hell of a lot more covert than is happening now, because trying justify it openly in a free and democratic society is a no-win situation.

You know, I am a little outraged. The Prosecutor did not stay focused upon who actually leaked the information, but went for the easy prosecution. I guess I just don't think its over yet. They are still talking to Woodward . . .

Since I find the reasoning of the far left to be incompressible it is hard to argue against them, and their rhetoric, with anything of great substance The fist thing that comes to mind is that anyone on the far left must be a fried brain moron or a traitor. Trust me, I have tried time and time again to see the world from their viewpoint. I just can't do it. The things I stand for are protecting our country, raising our kids right, saving the innocent life's of children, punishing those who deserve to be punished, rewarding those who work hard, treating people fairly, upholding accountability of our leaders, preserving the moral decency of our nation and our culture.

It seems like just about every stance of the far left is against these things. It is very difficult to take their stance on a certain subject and somehow show how it benefits the country as a whole. My point is that I don't believe it works the same way with them. I believe that the things that motivate us are completely different from what motivates them. I believe what motivates them are greed, envy, lust, power, etc...

Call it good vs. evil if you want. It does seem that way. Is every politician on the right good? No. I thought hard about getting involved in politics at one time. I thought it would be the best way to make a difference. I backed out of an election that I was sure to win due to the fact that I could never compromise my personal beliefs in order to secure a few votes. I think that all politicians make compromises in order to try and please a broader group of people. I can't do that. More often than not, I am forced to accept the lesser of two evils. What defines a person is that which is in his or her heart. I don't like what I see in the heart of the left.

I feel much the same about the extreme left. But very few liberals are extremists. I similarly reject the extreme right who are also dangerous fanatics. But not all conservatives are extremists either.

One of the problems with an extreme position is poor perspective. While you are much too reasonable to be considered an extremist, Salty, you do stand far enough to the right to make you very intolerant of those with different views. They are just beyond your horizon. It is difficult for you to see that they are not evil. They too cherish that list of values that you have. It is only in your political styles that you are different.

America has always been a place with a broad spectrum of beliefs and always will be. Much of our strength comes from this dynamism. It is important for America as a whole that we not think of each other as the enemy. Our enemies are out "there" somewhere.

Both extremes should be avoided, the broad middle should be widely inclusive, and a path somewhere in that middle is always prudent. Those who walk a short distance off to the left or right should not be mistaken for the kooks out in the woods.
