Surely more than your kid has a Catholic parent. If it were a large enough group, it would once again be the little-kid-destined-to-burn-in-hell that would be singled out.

Christian schools are expensive, but an option for parents who want that for their children.

Every kid that knows other children in Catholic School finds their whole system a joke.

thats still true. there will always be pockets of people who are slower to assimilate. but they mostly do eventually. they have language experts studying this sort of thing and they say english is not going anywhere. language should always be a matter of choice. having an official language smells of fear and cultural inferiority. like france.

No, not just like now. I've spent enough time in texas to know that they don't preach improving their English. Southern California, New Mexico, Arizona, they're the same. This could be it's own thread, as a matter of fact, there are already a few on this subject.

my experience is that people do learn english eventually, and i know lots and lots of dominicans and puerto ricans.

but so what if they do not? what if they stick to their little community? no big deal. like these people in chinatown who do not speak english. they get their jobs working for some import company speaking chinese all day. no big deal. they limit their own success, but thats their choice. if they feel comfortable that way, fine with me.

I'm not Catholic. I don't really follow what you are trying to say here.

I agree. But, I will add that we shouldn't make any concessions to make life any easier on them. Don't expect me to conform just because someone else is lazy.

You are right. As a retired probation and parole agent I can tell you that, with some specific limitations, I did not need a warrant to search an offender's residence or even to make an arrest. The police also have some latitude, and it is entirely possible that the president has some latitude in the use of wiretaps. But if he does, I am sure there are some limitations to it (i.e. the circumstances surrounding the wiretap and the amount of time he can do it before requiring a warrant). So long as he stayed within the limitations he should be okay. As I indicated before, I do not believe he is in any serious trouble based on his briefing of congressional leaders, huis adherance to the provisions of FISA and the Patriot Act and his following the counsel of the Attorney General. But sometimes, especially when the law is concerned, it is best to cross your t's and dot your i's. He should propably have gotten a warrant even if not strictly required to so long as doing so did not result in any realistic threat to national interest and public safety. But I really think the Democrats are being disingenuous in their criticisms seeing how they had been briefed on what the president was doing. They are just trying to make political hay out of this in order to influence the elections next year.

    I mean:

You are not the only Christian parent. If Christians truly believed that you should wait until marriage, then they would all take their children out of the classes & other children would be in the minority.

I also find the behavior of catholic school kids compared to public school kids laughable.

I didn't say the proportions were just like now, just the process. It's always been a choice. There's never been a national language that we forced upon people.
