For all those saying Freddie Mercury... I want to introduce you to Raul Panther III lead singer of the Protomen. Similar range, but he goes lower and higher. This song really shows it off. Here is the Protomen covering Don't Stop Me Now from a Queen tribute show they did.
I'm reminded of "What About Bob?" when someone mentions Neil Diamond. "Why did you get a divorce?"/"Doc, there are two types of people in the world; those who like Neil Diamond and those who don't. My wife was a big fan." That sums it up for me. My ex was also a huge fan.
Folks, you are all WAY off. I am a vocalist and let me tell you that there is no doubt and no question that Brad Delp from Boston was the best Rock and Roll singer of all time. Not. Even. Close. No one can soar as effortlessly as he did. Remember, all vocals in the first two Boston albums were him. The high harmonies were clear and painless. His upper registers were full and clear. His mid and lower registers solid and like a baritone. And he was YOUNG (like about 20) when they recorded those first two albums. The tenor voice does not mature until the upper 20s to lower 30s. He was a freak. The man was pure vocal gold. No comparison. I have heard a LOT of vocalists and no one has the talent to be mentioned in the same breath as that man. Try to sing it. I dare you. I have tried... and failed. Now for pure control and style along with raw vocal talent, Paul Rodgers is incredible. Still no Delp, but the best living RnR singer.
Tigermark, you beat me to it! The late, great Brad Delp was indeed a rare vocal talent and his abilities were only equalled by his personality.
