This is one of the most, if not the most, balanced performances I can remember seeing from the Tigers. It was excellent play on both sides of the ball, no turnovers, playcalling was great, the ball was spread around to lots of people keeping everyone fresh.. too many more reasons to count. I feel honored to have been there.

That's the game that came to my mind when I opened this thread. The Dalton/James gang and the oranges.

    <--- Was at that game.
<--- Did not throw oranges. :D

i don't know if it was the greatest performance in LSU history, but i do know it was a great performance. so great, in fact, that LSU gained 10 more votes for #1 in the AP poll. also so great the espn staff is actually touting the talent of this year's team, and that's an incredible feat since espn is so traditionally 1,000% USC biased. so "greatest" performance or not, it's one of the most flexible and relaxed teams on the field that i've ever seen, and that will take us far. CLM has one helluva team out on that field this year.

Man, this is a tough call. I still think the 1970 game against Notre Dame in Tiger stadium was the best I've ever seen. We were underdogs and no one had scored on the Irish defense in over 20 quarters. I want to say we scored in every quarter but the score was 21 to 7 or 28 to 7, I can't remember. Anyway, it was the first time I ever saw an LSU football game. I decided then I wanted to become a Tiger. I was in High School in Texas and I watched the game because if was Notre Dame. It was a rarity to see a night college game on TV back then. The crowd in Tiger stadium was on fire and the announcers could not believe how LSU kept scoring on the proud Irish defense. With each LSU touchdown the crowd went crazy, crazy. The Irish were overwhelmed. It was an incredible game. My friends could not understand why I started following LSU when we had the Longhorns to follow. The rest is history.

Anybody else ever here of this game?

I'd have to say that in my almost 41 years this game against VT was a great performance and it comes close to beating out that game when the oranges were thrown...of course that game was more meaningful at the time since we were going to the orange bowl...I was a lot younger too !!!

What about my post set you off, or are you just looking for an opportunity to promote your home movies?

The VT win was a great game/victory. I've been watching LSU since the 60s so that includes a lot of great performances by the Tigers. Living in Tennessee makes those victories over the Vols very dear, especially when the Vol nation is so broken up with their loss.

I agree we have to see if VT was overrated. If VTech goes 4-8, 5-7, 6-6, then it would lessen the impact of the win.

I would say it's the best offensive performance I have ever seen, considering the defense we went up against. Vtech is a top 10 defense, no doubt.

The only game that comes to mind that would trump this is the SEC CG game vs Georgia, 34-13. Should have been worse than that. And of course the importance of the game is unrivaled as it gave us a shot at the NC in 03. And that was going up against one of the best Georgia teams in their history.

You stole my thunder. I was thinking of that game against Georgia, we totally annihilated them (and they got revenge on us later).

Our offense against Bama in 2001 was pretty insane. Davey to Reed.

Great game, but maybe VaTech isn't as good as everyone thought preseason.

It would be awesome to see VaTech and MooU have solid seasons this year, though.

I forgot about that one. I think Rohan Davey through for over 400 yards, right? I'll never forget the look on Fullmer's face, they thought would coast by LSU. That was a huge win for our program.

Maybe we should exclude Bowl games from this thread since the VaTech game was not a Bowl game.

Isn't that the game Mauck came in for an injured Davey? We didn't annihilate Tennessee, we just beat them. They weren't expecting a running qb.

The win over Miami was nice as well.
