I still have an autographed Ron Guidry baseball and a Crawfishman book with him in it.

And Pedro was owned by the Yankees, you remember the "the Yankees are my daddy" quote.... That one hurt.

Hank Aaron. Not so much for his stats, but because in my memory, he was the first player that I watched that you could tell he loved the game. Everything he did was for the game, rarely himself. I remember when he invented the yellow ball for night games. They fucked with him for it, but to me, all it really meant was his contribution to the game. I thought that was awesome.

He will forever live in my mind as a hero because he helped bring Boston a title.

i became a boston fan during that era only because my hate for the yankees was so great. nootch kinda helped get me there.

i thought for sure his numbers were worse but i do remember he lost most of those he started against them in the postseason, right? i didnt see his record listed vs them individually.

I can't find postseason only stats, but he did toss Don Zimmer like a rag doll and threw a 17k 1 hit game in Yankee Stadium. That's pretty phenomenal.

I think it was Charlie Finley, owner of the Oakland A,s who introduced the yellow ball.
