DeAndre did, in fact, cancel his visit to Ole Piss. From everything that I am hearing DeAndre will be an LSU Tiger........BUT he must qualify first. I've got my fingers crossed. This will be HUGE should he qualify.

    Cajun,

I know there are rumors about him going to certain JUCO's but have you heard anything to suggest whether he may be a Hargrave enrollee or is it so dire he wont be able to -- if he has to go this route, of course?

If you don't know, get you local, lazy butt up and make some phone calls!

I like the sound of that. I am referring to his not making a visit to Ole Miss.

Now that Ole Miss is out, the coach that recruited him at Ole Miss is now at Southern Miss and causing some rumblings to get him over there.

Qualifying seems to be the major issue. I hope he has the grades to make it. He's all LSU if that's the case.

I'm hearing that if he does have to go the JUCO route, that he is a heavy lean to Perk (MGCCC). I wouldn't rule Hargrave out, but personally, I think it's unlikely since it is a military academy. If you knew what I knew about DeAndre, you wouldn't think that he would chose a military academy. Too much discipline for him. But, like you said, hopefully it won't even be an issue.

And ISLSTL, I heard the same thing as you about the Southern Miss thing. I heard that a couple of weeks ago, but that rumor has died down. I wouldn't put much into it.

The benefit of going to a miltary school if you can stand it is you still get all of your years of eligibilty plus the benefit of playing against some decent competition for a year ex: hargrave played against Tennessee's JV compared two JUCO you only get two years after you leave.

Cajun, I think the only issue is qualifying, I think we both agree on that. But if he doesn't think he will qualify, he may choose USM only to get on the field sooner at a D-1 school.

I just hope he qualifies and we don't have to worry about any of this.

Don't you have to pay your own way into Hargrave? It's not a junior college. From what I understand, they don't offer scholarships and the tuition is fairly high. If you have the means to pay it, then it's probably the better choice. I may be wrong on this.

Not sure what you're trying to show me. I'm familiar with Hargrave, I just wasn't sure about whether they award scholarships or not. The wikipedia article didn't mention. It does note that tuition is around $26,000.

I often read posts where people are confused as to why a recruit with poor grades would choose to go the JC route rather than going to Hargrave. I think this is the reason. Unless I'm wrong, and I may well be, these recruits and their families are not in a position to pay tuition that is more in line with an elite college. If I remember correctly Keiland had a sponser that paid his tuition. I guess that's how most of them get in.
