It's always a shame when the refs have an impact on the outcome of any game, ESPECIALLY when you have 2 great teams battling it out the way it was today. All the respect in the world to Auburn. They never backed down and they never quit. Yes, we could have possibly had some better plays called in certain situations, but so could have AU. Both defenses were unbelievable. I promise you that any other teams/fans who watched this game said, "holy ****", we don't want to play either of these guys. But the most frustrating part is seeing an officiating crew make so many obviously bad and inconsistent calls. If the call against LSU when we intercepted the ball was really P.I., then there is no doubt the play at the goal line was P.I. against AU. It was the same situation, but interpreted differently in each case. And there is no way anyone who saw the replay of the Hester "incompletion" would interpret that play as anything but a catch and a fumble out of bounds. How can an officiating crew review that play and call it an incompletion? Yes, JR should have thrown the ball away at the end of the game. He screwed up and he knows it (and he'll be reminded several times this week). But, with "fair" (not perfect) officiating, it shouldn't have come down to that. Again, congratulations to AU. They are deserving of a top 5 ranking. But I saw nothing tonight that makes me think that our Tigers are any less deserving. It's a shame that we have to beat each other up during the season rather than meeting in the BCS championship at the end of the season. LSU!
I see several Auburn fans saying the game was called bad for both teams. Now I'm not saying that there was not a questionable or close call made against them, But I just can't remember any. A little help, can't stomach watching the game again to find them.
Bowe pretty much ran over a linebacker to get open late in the 4th--no call. Not sure which drive it was. They are wrong about the Taylor push off though. That said, the fact that so many plays were poorly called tells me the SEC still has a problem with officiating. GEAUX TIGERS
Of course, I saw the game on CBS out here. I specifically remember those dudes commenting how "Auburn got away with that one" three times. I want to say to the AU fans on this board, that was one hell of a game. A pure defensive gem in my opinion. Thanks for a great game, but... **** the refs, bra!
There were none. I just watched the game again. There were 2 no calls (I listed them in my post "2 bad calls and 2 no calls") that would've effected things a lot. The only big call that was called against AU was the offense Pass Int and that was obvious. There were absolutely no questionable calls against AU because I looked for them the 2nd time I watched the game because I was in disbelief that the bad calls and no calls could go against one team the entire game. I can accept bad calls and no calls occasionally because it typically happens to both teams throughout the game.....Except this one. I can't believe the officiating was this one sided.
I didn't see Bowe run over an LB and I just re-watched the game. I may have missed it but if the ball is not in the air it is OK. Maybe the LB tangled with Bowe. I didn't see it so describe it to me. How can you say the Taylor PI call was wrong? That is idiotic. You can't stiff arm a defender and push off of him while the ball is in the air. That is undeniably PI.
Well I must say congrats, AU has an outstanding team. However, they got outplayed today and they know it. I am a LSU fan first and SEC second. If LSU can't get in the BCS Championship this year, I hope AU does. I hope AU kicks the crap out of Ohio State.
