WRONG. They're NOT "just playing the schedule given to them" - THEY'RE PLAYING THE SCHEDULE CHOSEN BY THEIR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT. Same for LSU. Every team KNOWS THE RULES going in. You know that if you want a shot you must EARN it on the field. Playing 12 NOBODIES means that you don't get a shot. You must beat SOMEBODY. Hell, even had Northern Illinois won out, I don't think that anyone would be complaining about their inclusion in the BCS because at least the beat Bama and Maryland. And, while neither Maryland or Bama are setting the world on fire THIS YEAR, at least N. Illinios ATTEMPTED to schedule SOMEBODY on their schedule. TCU did not and therefore doesn't deserve the big payday. The seminal question should be - If TCU played anybody in the Top 8, would they be able to stay on the field? In fact, if TCU played ANYBODY in the Top 15, they would be DOUBLE DIGIT underdogs. WHY? Because they stink. THey're only 10-0 because they are barely beating the likes of TULANE.
Find the worst NFL team of the year. I don't care who you pick. That team's 3rd teamers could beat Oklahoma, LSU or whoever by at least 28 points.
oh, now I see. You mean like if Oklahoma, CLEARLY the best team in the US, had played the 12 worst teams in the country, it would be wrong for them not to be in the Sugar Bowl. Gotcha. We wouldn't want anyone to actually have to half assed earn their way there, would we.
So, under your analysis, if Notre Dame (an independent) schedules ONE game against 0-11 Army (and other than Tulane 1-40 over the last 4 years), and then schedules 11 Div. 1AA schools, then because they beat the only Div. 1A school on their schedule, they would deserve the $13 million payday and a shot at the N.C.????
