Coach What I like about aour new coach is that he seems to have a good sense of Tradition. LSU has a hellofa tradition and Coach Saban did a good job of reviving that. Coach Miles should pick up in that department, right where Saban left off!!!:geaux:
Recruiting is the big question mark for just about any coach we would have hired. We are loaded with talent, so there are probably quite a few coaches out there that could come him and be successful the next couple of years, like Archer did. This will probably be a down year for recruiting b/c of the coaching change. We'll have a better handle on how well Miles can recruit next year. Only time will tell.
I'll hop on board the Miles train like a true LSU fan should, but my biggest question marks are not just recruiting, but what style of defense will he bring? He seems to be a high power offense type of guy, but as discussed elsewhere in another thread, defense is the key to the SEC. Whoa, that rhymed.
Amen to that. People are quick to judge. The people who are spewing crap are the same people that were probably spewing crap when Saban was hired. Someone once told me that there are smarter people than you and me running this company. There are smarter and more informed people heading up this search committee than the people lurking on this forum. Let's give this coach and the people on the search committee the benfit of the doubt. If it is the same people who selected Saban, I believe they have a proven track record.
Not the same people, Emerett hired Saban... got Skip his AD job... remains to be seen whether Skip, Okeefe, and the BOS can fill his shoes... they are pretty big shoes to fill, but we shall see.
As an educator everyone should know that if you expect someone to fail then that is what you will look for. As an educator you should be unbiased and wait to see what it is the student can do and then see how you can help them. How does this apply to this situation? Well a lot of people on this forum are unhappy about Coach Miles hire and are dooming him to fail. Why not wait and see what he can do and then as TIGER FANS that bleed purple and gold ask HOW we can help him to improve. It takes more than one person to make a football team successful. It takes everyone including the fans support. GEAUX Coach MILES and good luck!!!!! I am behind you 100%. Welcome to Louisiana, Baton Rouge and LSU where fans are loyal and friendly. GEAUX TIGERS!!!! Come on everyone lets show him how LSU FANS LUV the TIGERS and welcome him to the family. ldskule:
That's not all I want! I want the coach to run a clean program, to show class, and to develop the players to be the best that they can be both on and off the field. I want him, the players, and the team as a whole to represent the university in an exceptional manner. And, I want wins. I am confident that Les Miles will do all of the above, so I am happy with the hire. :geaux:
As a tiger fan that's been around awhile, I am very unhappy about the recent turn of events. We really had a good situation with Saban. We were lucky in hiring him. He was a top notch recruiter. And a hard worker. I believe the new coach will be a hard worker, hopefully, he will be better with game management, not that saban was all that bad, and getting top notch assistants. But I believe the key is recruiting. This year will probably be just average, but with the past years, we will be ok. Next years' recruiting needs to be dynamite. I hear that Miles is an offense minded coach. We need a d--- good defensive coordinator, then. As far as being behind the new coach, I have supported past coaches, maybe to a fault. I applauded Curley Hallman's "Send the earrings back to Mama" speech. & thought that the Archer hiring was great. Time proved me wrong. The difference is... we are at the top now. Saban came at a great time for him. Losing seasons at 8 of the last 11. Miles comes on the heels of 5 winning seasons. We shall see, but I will support him. Go Tigers!
