All of this is very true. My biggest problem with the novels is the needless exposition on things that don't relate to the main plot points. Martin will likely drop dead before he finishes Winds of Winter. If he does end up publishing it, I seriously doubt the final book ever comes out. So far I have enjoyed the TV Changes.
You dorks might enjoy this. I got to meet Emelia Clark when I did some work for a production she was working on in New Orleans. She was kind enough to sign an action figure for me. It is signed "With Love, Emelia Clark Dany
Ok, so I haven't read the books, just a shameless watcher of the series. I have a couple of questions about season 4. Was Shae a spy for Tywin the entire time she was with Tyrion or did she only go to him after Tyrion broke up with her? Since she couldn't take a hint and wouldn't leave until she forced Tyrion to be cruel, it's probably the former. Also, did Sansa give it up to Carcetti (Littlefinger) or is she still virtuous? Probably so, since she's all dark and shit now, but I hope not since he's basically responsible for getting her father killed.
It isn't clear. She's a whore and she takes up with whoever is rich and powerful. Once Tyrion was in prison, he could offer her nothing a whore is interested in. Tywin essentially bought both Bronn and Shae to isolate Tyrion. Still virtuous.
Why cut out Aegon and Connington, and why cut out the Manderlays? I've been rereading ADWD, and the only reason I can come up with is strictly financial. Seems like White Harbor and the Wolf's Den, along with the Court would have been extremely costly to create. But it also makes you wonder what the point of all the open story lines in the books are if they are cut from the show.
