But how it is forged is still lost due to the Doom. Is it some form of magic, or dragon fire, or obsidian that fives Valerian Steel its hue and powers? That is what I would still like to find out.
Yeah you're right, that science or magic was lost. Wasn't Stannis' old seat Dragonstone (and the ancient Targ seat before Aegon conquered Westeros) built on a shitload of obsidian? I wanna say it was. There are still multiple valaryian steel blades out there. I'm also not quite sure why Jon didn't grab that WW's weapon when he dropped it.
What do you mean by that? I'm thinking I may have missed something. Me too. I get the feeling he's either got to walk or swim. Kind of make you wonder how they're even going to make it to the wall, since they don't seem able to negotiate through the water.
When Ramsay and Roose were talking about attacking Stannis or staying within the walls and just waiting them out he said he wanted to attack and leave "a feast for the crows". That's the name of book 4 A Feast For Crows.
I believe in the books the raven sent messages saying that the undead were in the water attacking the ships.
I'm not sure, I'm doing an aDwD re-read right now and the only thing they say about Hardhome is that Mother Mole convinced the wildlings to follow her there, and Jon sent Val to find Tormund and have them meet their ships there so he can bring them south, I don't think there is a WW attack there. If I'm not mistaken it's Melisandre who sees them attacked in a vision which is why Jon sends the ships, then the wildlings attack some of the ships, and wights may be in the forest but there isn't a white Walker attack.
Salt water homie, and it looks like the Night's King called them off. the Night's King is a Stark, or at least that's assumed. So the story of the Night's King goes like this, during the long night in the age of heroes, the King in the North and the King beyond the wall joined forces to fight the Night's King who was a Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and the brother of the King in the North. That Lord Commander met a woman with piercing blue eyes and pale white skin that was cold as ice and fell in love with her, he planted his seed and lost his soul and named himself King of the Night and her his queen. He made a fortress out of one of the towers at the wall and horrible things happened, and he was eventually killed by the King in the North and The King beyond the wall. That's why no tower on the wall can be reinforced from the south.
I wanted to share this book quote because it's awesome. “Winter is almost upon us, boy. And winter is death. I would sooner my men die fighting for the Ned’s little girl than alone and hungry in the snow, weeping tears that freeze upon their cheeks. No one sings songs of men who die like that. As for me, I am old. This will be my last winter. Let me bathe in Bolton blood before I die. I want to feel it spatter across my face when my axe bites deep into a Bolton skull. I want to lick it off my lips and die with the taste of it on my tongue.” - Hugo Wull Stark Loyalist A Dance with Dragons To put it in context Wull is a northern head of House Wull of the mountain clans that accompanies Stannis to Winterfell.
