Entitlements, Foreign manufacturing, pork politics, lack of law enforcement, the lack of justice in sentencing and a general decline in morality will be the fall of this country. We haven't even lasted as long as the Romans did. and probably won't Hope I'm wrong.
There is something alot of you are missing, this is not Pres. Bush's plan. If you had been paying attention over the last several months, you would know this. What Bush is doing is searching out the best solution for this problem. No matter where it comes from. Alot of you probably know that the author of this plan of action, that we seem to be pursuing, is a left wing democrat. There is no personal agenda here to be gained, except saving something that never should have been born to begin with. Unfortuantly, like a crackhead on a street corner, we as a nation are hooked. With the all the ways that SSI has been misused and mismanaged, we have no other option than to change it. The fact that all of the Ted Kennedys of the world are opposed to it gives me hope that this might be a good plan after all. Some of you will immeditaly say that we have to have social security for the elderly and the disabled. With the decline of the traditional family structure and the social influence of the church, I have to agree with you. But, the millions upon millions of lazy, spoiled, idiotic, scum suckers that rape us every month on our paychecks need to be cut off. Alot of my family are educators. They can tell you that just about every kid in poor rural schools know what "crazy" checks are. They can tell you how children will tell them that their parents threaten them with bodily harm if they get a passing grade and run the risk of that monthly check not arriving. I just love hearing about all of the mothers out there that will argue with the guidance counselor that their kid really does have a learning disability, no matter what she says. How about the kids that will tell you to your face that the reason we have to pay taxes every year is because my wife and I are married. They know that if a woman is married to a man that can physically work a job that they will lose their checks. Thats why they don't marry, they just live together. What do we get from this culture? We get a bunch of babies mommas and babies daddys. Not to mention a bunch of screwed up kids that will ultimately end up in the penal system one day. Have you ever heard of dumbing down? I wonder how many half brothers and sisters are together and producing more offspring due to this culture? How many generations will it take too completely ruin the gene pool? Something has to be done, at least President Bush is addressing it. It's a shame that some people put political agendas ahead of our nations well being. At my first civilian job, outside of the Marine Corps, I managed accounts for a local bank. I have personally seen SSI recipients that make more money each month than I do. It's a simple concept, the more kids, the more money. A friend of my wife's works for the local social security office. Her job is to process people filling for disablity benefits for the first time. She told us, just today, that an over weight woman came in to file a claim. When asked why she believed she rated SSI disablity, she said because she is fat and stupid. When asked what she meant by that, she stated she could not work due to the fact that she is obese and illiterate. The sad thing is that some of you think she should recieve benefits. :dis:

EDIT: here's another snafu, it's people like that ...that cause the system to do a "knee jerk" reaction and decline ALL first time applicants of diability. Disability is based on what YOU have paid in. So you ought to not have trouble getting it. right? wrong, it took two years and a lawyer from an approved list to get my dad disability and he is blind, has lymphomia cancer and has been mdeically retired for 15 years. My wife can't work due to a Brain tumor that puts pressure on her brain stem, her Dr. ordered her not to work but she has been trying to get diasbility for 2 years. They flat turned her down the first time and told her that's standard procedure to persuade the ones that don't need it to give up. When she asked "what do we do?" they handed her a "list" of approved??? WTF? lawyers that handle disability cases. has to be approved.....I smell a fish here. anyway we went to the lawyer and asked him if our case was justified, he looked at the medical rcords and said "oh yes, she'll definately qualify, but she has to wait for the judge to hear the case" apparently they are sooo backed up by frivilous attempts, it takes a year to get heard, then the lawyer requires 1/3 rd of what they owe you. Nice little scheme they are running dont you think? :cuss: the lawyers get fat, the poor get hand outs that keep them poor and the people that deserve it get screwed and have to fund it all. same sh!t different day. :cuss:
I have friends from the Corps that have lost limbs, or are other wise permanently disabled, and have been medically retired. More often than not, they have had to file multiple times to recieve benefits. And like your wife, they have always been referred to an "approved" lawyer. Fortunately, there are several organizations that assist veterans.
the thing is you shouldnt even need a lawyer, much less an "approved" one. that's like saying OK we have selected who we want you to pay the money we owe you, since it's yours to begin with. We want you to give 1/3 rd of it to our buddies in this law practice. and if you don't play right you get zilch. it's called legalized rape.
