    As citizens, those Air Force officers have every right to communicate with members of Congress as long as classified information is not leaked. As Air Force officers, they have no right to go around the chain of command to make independent recommendations that are directly contrary to command decisions. I'm not sure of the context in which his remarks were made, but even a UCMJ "failure to obey orders" violation does not rise to treason, without some significantly incriminating circumstances.

    It sounds like he used some stupid phraseology to remind his audience of the obligations and constraints of command.

    He won't get fired for this, but he may have just topped himself out at vice commander. Time to take that job offer at Raytheon.
