I liked him a ton after last season, and I'm still holding out on him. But, I expected more from him this year. Perhaps my expectations were just a little too high.
My question is what has changed? The defensive backfield is still loaded with talent and they are still coached by Raymond. Are they just not communicating? Are they reading the press clippings about how great they are and thinking they don't have to show and play? Or are they just not catching on to the new schemes that KS brings? It certainly doesn't look that different or complicated, they should be getting with the program by now.
Love his passion, but his play is not living up to his publicity right now. He is not a good cover safety like Eric Reid - he is more like Landon Collins was at Bama (a thumping run stopper). He just needs to go back to wrapping up like he did last year and stop trying to go for the knock out on every play, and he will be fine. His attitude and talents pair nicely with Mills. Mills being full speed and playing a full game should create a very positive ripple effect for this defense. At least, that's what I hope develops...
How in the world is 5th from dead last in redzone defense not ugly? How is that in the same category as Harris making a few mental mistakes while still having an outstanding game? I liked this overall red, but you pull FAR too many punches with just how bad our defense is in coverage and redzone.
