1. We've got a whole lot more than that. One of the top-valued programs in college football, one of the best stadiums in the country and a legendary one at that, one of the most successful head coaches, no losing seasons in this century, regular trips to championship games, good recruiting ground, splendid reputation as an elite football school, and a rabid fanbase.

We need to find a quarterback and a defensive coordinator, but both are do-able.

  2. I was not implying that is all we had, just adding some good stuff.

I may be a minion, but I am an LSU GEAUX TIGER minion!

  3. Theoretically doable. QB kinda requires blind faith and lots of hoping. Feel more confident in acquiring a DC if Chavis bolts.
  4. That can be a problem. Defense was on the field way too long. 8-minute scoring drives has been our formula for success and we let Notre Dame do it to us. If we had maintained to ball longer, Notre Dame's offense would have been on the bench where they can;t score any points. Time of Possession is a very big factor in winning.

  5. Not really disagreeing that ball control wins game and our O didn't succeed at that, but even so, TOP is slightly misleading. We were one score back (if refs pull head from ass, it's tied) with a huge TOP disparity.
  6. Three of our scoring drives: (1) the Fournette KO return; (2) 75-yard pass to Diarse on 1st play from scrimmage to start 2nd half, and (3) Fournette 89-yard run, 1st play from scrimmage after getting ball back. Definitely factors into the lopsided TOP.

  7. If #2 & #3 don't happen, we probably go 3 & out, so I don't think it would make much of a difference in TOP.

  8. This, more than anything, is why we lost. We scored too quickly, and our defense could not get off the field. ND did to us what we try to do to other teams. It is a successful formula.

For that matter, our 2013 offense often scored too quickly, which put undue pressure on a young, inexperienced defense. That's the danger of an explosive offense (see Leach's TT teams.)

One of your good is inaccurate, though. We fumbled in the 3rd quarter once when we had a decent drive going (bad exchange between Fournette and Jennings.)

  9. That is a good point.

I'm looking at the game stats in the morning paper . . .
    • Interceptions 0-0
    • Fumbles 0-0
  10. Did they look like they both gained weight to you? They looked slow and fat to me.
