The youngsters on this team have never experienced anything like it and the veteran leadership just wasn't there (neither was the coaching) to help them through it. I'd say both but we were dominated at the LOS on defense from the 1st drive and this is what happens when you're dominated at the LOS. Mississippi State didn't punt in the 1st half. I think they only punted once and that was in the 4th quarter. They found a play that worked and ran it down our throats all night. Then when we brought help, murdered us right over the top through the air.
That could be a quick fix, but going the JUCO route too much is just a bandaid. It's what programs like MSU do. Oh, wait....
I could only hear the game on internet radio and what I heard was appalling. I also followed along with the peeps here on Tigerfan but again, it was brutal. I never had the gift of physicality/strength that even our weakest LSU Freshman player has; I believe that the Purple & Gold should be considered sacred, an honor to wear the uniform and to give 100% regardless of whether we are winning--or whether the teammate next to us has quit. There are so few games in a season; one would hope that each player could do such simple math. Maybe not.
There are always people you can hire and any AD worth 2 shits would have a ready list at all times. As an example Lincoln Riley was still waiting in the shadows of Bob Stoops. You don't he would have bolted for LSU in a heartbeat if we offered him Tom Herman/Orgeron kind of money? There are also a lot of NFL coordinators that would make great NCAA coaches. Our AD had a list that consisted of trying to get Jimbo to leave a program where he had won a championship a couple of years before for a job that was a lateral move at best and assumed neith he nor Herman would play him like a fiddle.
