Moaning whines are like a feast to me. Love being miserable. 2 losses, 2 losses, keep telling yourself it's the 2 losses that we're over-reacting to. In those two losses we looked clueless, worse this week than last. But it's more than that - Miles has been scrapping by for a while at a much lower level than is justifiable. Innovation at LSU is a long dead dream. Hope he turns it around but this weekend really looked like an all new level of suck.
Choss, how are your feelings on CLM? Think it's time for a change? I have long been a supporter of him and think he's a good man but I think the game has passed him by and it's time we start looking....and no I have no replacement in mind but I think there are others out there who could do no worse.
Nope. There are more out there that could do lots worse. We have had experience with this. We are spoiled by having two coaches in a row that were keepers. But LSU and all other schools, including Alabama, average five duds between keepers. We went through six coaches after Chollly Mac until we found a keeper. Did Florida go out and just replace Spurrier or Meyer? Nope in both cases. Did Bama go out and just replace Stallings? No they went through five until they found a keeper. It is a pipe dream that we can just hire any coach and expect him to do better than Miles.
I'm not saying any ole coach can do a better job, but I think it's time we start looking......I don't think CLM can get us to our ultimate goal, I hope I'm wrong.
When you factor in the quality of the opponent, the fact that it was a home game, the fact that LSU was still in the mix for the playoff (Baylor and Stanford losing opened some doors), and the margin of victory/complete lack of competitiveness -- I think this is Les Miles' worst loss at LSU. What to do about a coach like this is a Catch-22. You may want to part with the staff for failure to turn all of this talent into great seasons. But, this is the staff that brings the talent here in the first place. Is there a head coach out there that can keep the Top 5 classes coming in each year, hire a great staff and deliver the goods? I don't know. It's clearly very difficult. We've seen brand names like USC, Nebraska, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, ND and others get it very, very wrong despite having tremendous built-in advantages and a willingness to pay top dollar.
We had some bad coaching hires because they went for the coaches they could get for the least amount of money rather than the best coaches available. Mike Archer instead of Steve Spurrier, ect.
