    That's why they're suspect.

Florida's coach, gameplan, players, and confidence has cycled out, some of these aspects years ago. We all know they are still recruiting good talent, but LSU is consistantly pulling stronger classes in now. Their dominance was a decade ago, not to say they still aren't good, but let's face it, the only thing that's the same is their fans.

Oh, I totally agree. Im just saying that is the reason the media says the SEC is down when they are down. They were the class of the SEC in the 90s. It will only be in retrospect that commentators and writers look back on LSU/UGA domination (in the event of this happening) of the "00's" and base their opinion of the conference's strength as it relates to the teams that most recently dominated it. As of right now, thats still UT and UF. No other team has been dominant, even though they havent been either.

Great post. when LSU and UGA win a few EAST-WEST titles, then we can hear how strong the sec is.

My point is that the SEC is a strong conference. If Tenn and Florida are not the top tier teams in the conference, that doesn't make the conference weaker, or the teams in the conference that are now winning somehow worse. However, we are lead to believe that only until Tenn and Florida start winning again, the SEC is a weak conference, and the SEC title winner is just a lucky team able to win while the real conference powers were in down cycles.

LSU and GA are both ranked higher than Tenn and Florida. LSU has recently (last few years) beat both Florida and Tenn. The SEC is not a weak conference b/c Florida and Tenn are losing. If anything Georgia and LSU need to step up and take their place.
